ALPHA 9 releases his debut album ‘New Horizons’, out now on Anjunabeats. 

Artem Stolyarov, known as both ARTY and ALPHA 9, has earned millions of fans worldwide and filled some of the most coveted clubs and festivals on earth. 

He arrived at Anjunabeats under his ARTY alias over a decade ago. ‘Rush’, ‘Zara’, ‘Around The World’, ‘Rebound’ and ‘Kate’ are classics that helped define the sound of the label in the early 2010s. 

Artem later looked inward and found renewed purpose as ALPHA 9, the alias under which he’s explored his true musical identity in recent years. Focusing on the progressive trance that he fell in love with as a teenager, some of Artem’s standout moments as ALPHA 9 include ‘Before The Dawn’, ‘Stellar’, ‘Skin’, and his faithful update of Above & Beyond and Zoë Johnston’s evergreen classic ‘Good For Me’.

ALPHA 9’s explosive sets have graced Steel Yard, Dreamstate, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland, Ushuaïa, Amnesia Ibiza, and Creamfields. Most recently, he thrilled 20,000 fans at Above & Beyond’s sold out Group Therapy 500 celebrations in Los Angeles.

‘New Horizons’ is the culmination of the ALPHA 9 story to date, and an enticing look at where the project is heading next. “This is ALPHA 9’s signature, instantly recognisable sound, but it’s also future-facing and explores new horizons,” Artem says. “It’s called ‘New Horizons’ because it’s the journey from the first steps of ALPHA 9 to maturity.” 

Artem feels this is the most honest, raw and energising music he’s ever created. “This is a new chapter,” Artem says. “I’m very confident in the direction I’m taking this project. This new album is a journey through the beginning of ALPHA 9’s artistry to now.”

Singles from the album have captivated fans and tastemakers alike. ‘Calling’, ‘Down to Love’ and ‘Final Frontier’ have racked up over two million combined streams to date. All three singles have  featured in Beatport’s Top 100 Trance chart, and received support from the likes of Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Cosmic Gate, Farius and beyond.

“ALPHA 9 is my roots,” Artem says. “And when we decided to revive the project, we knew we wanted to take it to Anjunabeats.” He celebrates the release of ‘New Horizons’ with an extensive tour across North America in January - March 2023, tickets on sale now.

This unlikely if fortuitous scenario seems to sum up the Norwegian duo and their incredible sense of humour. There’s an impish sense of both fun and imagination to their work that matches frisky electronics to gently uplifting atmospheres. For their new cut, ‘Closer To Life’, Atella have joined forces with singer Frøder, recently cited by Nylon as one of Norway’s most promising new artists, to deliver a track that can stand proudly amongst the output of fellow Bergen natives Röyksopp or Lindstrøm (whom they have remixed).

Atella explain: “Closer To Life is the result of the good friendship we have with the amazing artist Frøder. The song is an atmospheric reflection of our world’s unstable and chaotic journey through the universe. Close To Life is the sequel (or prequel - who knows?!) to Closer To Life. A targeted journey through time and space, and the search for extraterrestrial and/or intelligent lifeforms - are we getting closer? We can feel it.”  

Atella made their debut on Eskimo with ‘The Monster’ back in 2014, a track that featured in ‘Scream’ (the TV series spin off from the film trilogy) and was heavily supported by scores of DJs including the legendary Busy P. Their previous single ‘Mechanical Sparrow’ featured O. Martin on vocals (the musical ally of Aurora) and they’ve recently worked with or remixed the likes of Ary, Dagny and Bow To Each Other, who won the Norwegian Grammy Award for pop band of the year. Get ready for the Nordic invasion.

UK DJ / Producer Farius brought out his debut album in May this year and it set the progressive trance world on fire, with his polished approach cementing him as the UK's most exciting trance artist. Coming in at fifteen tracks, 'From The Start' was a stellar first outing that saw Farius push the boundaries of the genre, finding a sweet spot between uplifting and hard-hitting. 

Now Enhanced Progressive brings you 'From The Start -  The Remixes' - eleven tantalising remixes of some of the album's highlight cuts. Opening with a pumping club mix of ambient album opener 'Initio' from Farius himself, we then dive into remixes from Boxer & Amy Wiles of 'Forever' and Sysdemes of 'Miami Love', who showcase opposite ends of the progressive house spectrum. We go on to feature a dubstep-influenced take on 'Stars' from HGHLND and Luke Anders, and some of the most exciting names in progressive trance put their mark on Farius' originals, including remixes from Myon, Sunny Lax and Andy Duguid, as well as newer acts like Zack Evans, Hausman, Joel Freck and Kanallia.
