Favorite recordings and Lea Lisa present Many Shades of House, a personal selection of House music tracks that have a very special place in Lea Lisa‘s heart and in her record box. Amongst this selection, Many Shades Of House is including many very rare and hard to find titles, mostly never reissued on vinyl until now.

Lea Lisa (Phonica Records, Wolf Music…) is a DJ, producer & vinyl addict who never stops digging and hasn’t since she first started in 1995. House music is so rich and varied that she naturally felt the desire to show and share this diversity. “Through this compilation I wanted to present artists and records that have greatly influenced me throughout my career. Whether through the strong messages they convey or through the emotions I felt discovering each of these vinyl.” said Lea Lisa.

Carefully packed with long-forgotten US house gems (Transient’s groove keeper “Higher” and a 1997 NYC House tune from Kerri Chandler in his garage house days), iconic early house/techno treasure (Mark Goddard‘s “Truth”), intensive journeys (Passion Dance Orchestra) to atmospheric soundscapes (Pure Science), soulful grooves (Ron Trent‘s boogie infused “Can’t Change Me”) and timeless deep house gems (Slowhouse, Abacus).

Created in 2005, Favorite Recordings presents a rich catalogue combining the productions of new artists with reissues of forgotten masterpieces all along the wide groove music spectrum, from Soul/Funk, Jazz, Disco, to Reggae, Hip-Hop, House or Electronic genres. Before launching Favorite. Pascal Rioux, founder and label honcho, started in the mid-90s with the House music label Rotax Disques. In 2014, following his meeting and affinity with French House DJ Jeremy Underground, they quickly collaborated on a series of compilations (My Love Is Underground) curated by Jeremy and reissuing some of his finest Underground House music hidden gems. Today the story starts again with Lea Lisa with this finest compilation for House Music Lovers…

Following-up ‘Trust, Process, Control’ - their last joint release on HIFI/LOFI Records - Bonnie Spacey and Franz Matthews are back at it again. This time, the two producers decided to pay tribute to one of their favorite French artists, Etienne Daho, by reinterpreting a pilar of his timeless repertoire : Week-End à Rome, and revamping it in a more club-ready version that will satisfy every acid tingled italo-disco-pop lover from France, Italy and beyond, as well as all the countless Etienne Daho fans all around the globe.

Based out of Berlin, Franz Matthews is a franco-german electronic music producer, DJ & Live act who likes to blend worlds together. Either wandering through cosmic, spiritual, or other mental realms, mixed with sonic influences gathered from his travels around the world. A winning combination that’s seen him release music on imprints such as Aeon, ROAM, Heimlich, Eskimo, collaborating and getting remixed by some of the greatest minds in electronic music today, including Aera, Chaim, Local Suicide, Alex Niggemann, The Organism, and playing at numerous places around the world, such as Château Perché festival, Kater Blau, Sisyphos, Mexico, and at the legendary Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg...

Bonnie Spacey, French and Marseille based Dj/Producer, has been rocking the dance floors since 2016. She explores the intersection of indie dance, heady techno and dark disco, in both her DJ sets and her own output. « Don’t », her first single, was an immediate success and played by Dixon, Jennifer Cardini and many others. Since then, she played all around the world and accumulated numerous releases on serious labels such as Phisica, Jeahmon! And Lumière Noire to name a few, without forgetting her own label Critical Monday of course.

Unique 21st Century Galactic Samurai artists TOKYO BLACK STAR are a trio led by New York-based international DJ Alex from Tokyo; Tokyo-based sound engineer / music producer Isao Kumano; and man of mystery / analog equipment otaku / musician Kenichi Takagi.

Working from a unique and primarily Japanese perspective, Alex and Isao have been working together on music (and audio products) since the beginning of this century, first on remixes and tracks for compilations and later on EPs (their "Psyche Dance EP" was the first ever release on Dixon and Ame's Berlin based Innervisions imprint back in 2005) and even a high respected line of high end headphones / audio equipment (Phonon). Their first album (still as a duo) was "Black Ships" released in April 2009 by Innervisions. After touring live in Europe the duo started to look at new directions, Kenichi joined bringing another level of analog expertise (especially with his self-made modular synth) making his first appearance on record on the debut world famous label release last Fall - Tokyo Black Star's “Edo Express EP” which received a rave review at NPR for a atypical track - the afro-inspired "Mitokomon." Since then the trio's ship has advanced through the galaxy, absorbing and translating influences from around the solar system and beyond. Now the trio are back with "Fantasy Live 1999" a very special “voyage  sonore” in their true retro-futuristic style!

For the visual side of this album they have teamed up with their long-time collaborator, the very talented and widely acclaimed New York based Japanese artist Tomokazu Matsuyama who has been creating the Tokyo Black Star visual identity since their first release on Innversions in 2005.

In the spirit of long-form masterpieces like Göttsching's "E2-E4", this wonderful first album from the world famous imprint “Fantasy Live 1999” is an epic forty minute long meditative live audio painting for your “mind, body & soul” soundtracking the beautiful psychedelic mix of colors that is Matsuyama’s stunning cover painting. Conceived between 1999 and 2015, the genesis for the album, and the source of it's title is the fact it was started one legendary crazy night when the band tape-recorded an impromptu live performance at a basement bar in the groovy Shimokitazawa neighborhood in Tokyo where Alex used to live. The finished album is a result of further sessions recorded at Kenichi’s studio in Tokyo and mixed at the "phonon* studio in Tokyo last summer. Sit back, chillax and we hope you enjoy this trip!
