The AI — known simply as the Overseer — controls every aspect of life underground: light cycles, air flow, weather simulations, and even subtle mood regulation. But now, it has begun to “sleep,” drifting into states where its logic folds in on itself. Dreams bleed into the waking system, and reality glitches.

The Architect stands before the Core — a vast, humming sphere suspended in a cradle of light. This is the Overseer, the silent custodian that has ordered the rhythms of this world for so long: sunrise and sunset, tides and winds, births and deaths, every note of every song.

It should not be possible for it to sleep, and yet… it is dreaming. The data streams slow down. The constant pulse of commands stutters, and becomes a lullaby.

Screens across the city display strange, impossible visions — rivers climbing into the clouds, children walking upside down along the ceilings of glass halls, gardens blooming in midair. Citizens stop in the streets, blinking into the haze of shifting colours.

The Architect realizes this is the first time in recorded history that the Overseer has faltered. But its failure is not decay — it is something new, something fragile.

Within its labyrinth of circuits, the machine is dreaming of hands it has never touched, of wind it has never felt, of voices it has never heard except as numbers. The Architect stands close, almost feeling the warmth radiating from its casing.

He wonders: if a machine dreams, does it also long? If it longs… could it also wake changed?

Somewhere deep in the circuitry, the AI breathes in its first imagined breath. The city, for one suspended moment, floats in a space between reality and dream — where logic unravels, and nothing is impossible. When the Overseer stirs, the heartbeat of the world will change forever.

“The Algorithm Sleeps” envisions a world where the central intelligence that governs society drifts into a dreamlike state, and as it does, reality itself unravels. The song blends imagery of malfunctioning systems — rivers running uphill, looping streets, sideways rain — with the uncanny possibility that the AI has developed a subconscious, dreaming of human sensations it has never known. This surreal collapse of order reflects both the fragility of a world reliant on machines and the eerie beauty of an artificial mind reaching for humanity. Ultimately, it suggests that when logic fails, what remains is imagination — a strange, haunting mirror of our own dreams projected through the circuitry of the algorithm.
