Ronisa is a visual artist, curator and DJ from London and Tehran.
Growing up in London, musically curious and creatively-wired, she picked up her first turntables at the age of 19 to indulge her obsession with drum ’n’ bass and jungle.
Her high-energy sets now blend fast hand percussion, electro baselines and hypnotic, vocal overtones - a nod to her diverse and evolving British and Iranian musical influences. Expect a journey from hard-hitting percussion leads, to acid house, UK garage, electro synths and hypnotic, dark techno.
In 2018, she co-founded @mehmooni.london to push a musical space created for the Iranian and artists of colour to express themselves. Mehmooni means party in farsi, but it strives to be more than that. A space that continuously hosts a mix of diverse SWANA and POC artists. A creative home away from home and evolving creative project that carves spaces for the diaspora as well as pushing boundaries between identity, electronic music and the past.
Her visual project @PLAE_STUDIO_ is an experimental project breathing life into the intersections of music, gender, graphic design and culture.
