Kelados (ancient Greek word) means: noise of rushing waters, loud, screaming, agitation
(Aeschylus) and musical sound (Euripides). Also, it means sound, voice of providential
laws (Pindar).
The work describes all these contrasting emotional tones.
It is written in one of the multiharmonic, multispectral ways that I have devised and use.
The specific ways are based upon new formations of sounds beyond the 8va and consist
of much smaller intervals of semitones.
The work begins with an isocratic on D which is constantly changing and new rhythmic
values and timbral techniques are being added.
It is dedicated to the excellent musicians, George Skrivanos and Alexander Michaelides.

Spiros Mazis was born in Greece.
He obtained his Degree in Composition with Distinction and First Prize in Athens, with I.Ioannidis and his PhD in Music Composition with Thomas Simaku at York University, England.
He attended composition seminars with Theodore Antoniou and Iannis Xenakis in Greece and Tristan Murail and Marco Stroppa in Hungary. He also attended Computer and Electronic Music seminars, with David Waxman and Andrea Szigetvari.
Twelve of his works have been distinguished in composition contests, and many works have been performed in Europe, Australia, Japan, USA. Works for orchestra have been performed by: Athens State Orchestra, Greek Orchestra of Colours, Bulgarian String Orchestra

Diana Rotaru's "Red Hot" 2nd mvmt

Alexios Pogrevnois (1990-) born in Thessaloniki, Greece. He studied on a Master's program with Mr. Ronald van Spaendonck at the Royal Conservatory in Mons, Belgium. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Clarinet Performance from the Ionian University, where he pursued clarinet and bass clarinet performance studies with Yannis Samprovalakis and Chamber music with Pr. Lambis Vasiliadis. He began music studies at the Municipal Conservatory of Stavroupolis-Thessaloniki, Greece, with degrees in "Music Harmony" (2006) with Petros Bekiaridis and Clarinet with Fotis Terzis. He graduated from the Music High School of Thessaloniki (2008) having clarinet studies with Stergios Moschogiannis.

He has participated in several masterclasses by Ronald van Spaendonck, Spyros Tzekos (principal clarinet in National Opera of Greece), Dimitris Leontzakos, Melos Brass, Idee Fixe, Theofilos Sotiriades, Szatmari Szolt (Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra and Liszt Academy of Music). He attended clarinet performance courses with Robert Hill, principal clarinetist in London Philharmonic Orchestra in January 2013. He also attended in Orchestral and Choir conducting workshops by Kostis Papazoglou and Petros Bekiaridis.

He was a member of the Youth State Orchestra of Thessaloniki in 2006, co-principal in Camerata Stavroupolis, principal and co-principal in the Ionian University Orchestra, and Bass clarinetist in “Big Band Stavroupolis”. He collaborated with the Academica Orchestra of Athens, the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Greece (NERIT), the New Conservatory of Thessaloniki, Woodwind Chamber Orchestra of Stavroupolis, Jazz Ensemble of the Municipal Conservatory of Stavroupolis, and Ionian University Orchestra and Contemporary Ensemble. He performed under the baton of Myron Michailidis, Carolos Trikolidis, Byron Fidetzis, Kostis Papazoglou, and Miltos Logiades.

In January-February 2013 he was honored to make his internship in the London Philharmonic Orchestra, performing near Sir Robert Hill and Nicholas Carpenter and educated in wind ensemble performance by Paul Beniston, as well.

He works as a freelance clarinetist and is a member of the BEARTIVE organization.
