We are back after a long time. Welcome to the newest season of our series. Hope we can keep experimenting together, wherever you are listening to. A big welcome to the new members of the community. 

To kick off, we present CS + Kreme (@cs-kreme) – Conrad Standish and Sam Karmel – a particular Australian duo who caught our attention during the long days of quarantine with their excellent Snoopy LP, imprinted on Trilogy Tapes (@the-trilogy-tapes). Orange, their latest work, profounds into this addictive hallucinatory feeling, delivering once again a special music experience. 

Regarding the mix find a quiet moment, you'll have to chew it a while to uncover slowly the encrypted narrative that's beyond. A selection made with love, featuring some of recent duo favorites in no particular style.

The graphics are a delicate and beautiful work by the graphic designer Isidora Amenábar.

FR081 CS + Kreme (Melbourne, Australia)

The fourth instalment of the Voyages mix series is lead by Ukrainian-born, Warsaw based @shjva who's warping production and tripped-out selections have spent hours ringing around our ears at base camp. 

With releases spanning a breadth of contemporary psychedelic soundscapes, notably the self-released 12-tracker 'zemlia', we were delighted when they agreed to take the reigns on a Voyage on Plantera.

Shjva lays down a shamanic journey of ritualistic hypnosis through the ripples of space and nature.

3024: Please describe the mix in a single sentence ?

I thought I’d make a mix in the currently popular yet controversial 140-160bpm range, as there’s some amazing music in this space between techno and jungle that doesn’t revolve around straight kicks, and I think it deserves more attention.

3024: What DJ inspires you at the moment / has inspired you throughout the years and why?

Throughout the years.. well apart from this guy Martyn I’d have to say Andi Baumecker. I don’t know many DJs with such a depth of knowledge across so many genres. His passion for music is relentless and continuously inspiring.

Recently I’ve been really into Polygonia. Brilliant producer and DJ from Munich creating ethereal worlds through sound so convincing you can almost step into them. I went to see her open Berghain last September and it was incredible, like being in a rainforest on acid. 

3024: What are you working on / what have you got forthcoming?

There’s a new EP coming this summer which will be announced soon, and a few remixes before that, for Jakojako and Hercules & Love Affair (with Mr Baumecker). Otherwise, I’m having fun developing a new live set involving MIDI controlled lights, which I premiered at Superbooth last week.

Progcast: 006 ~ Hannd

Crossing the pond for our 6th Progcast, we’ve invited London based Comma Traxx label boss Hannd. His mix incorporates the tempos of modern day prog paired with a deep dive into his older UK tech house and 90s techno collection - the result being a progression of deep rolling rhythms, developing in energy whilst aiming to maintaining a continuous raw sound throughout the mix.

Psychedelic meditations.

For anyone not yet familiar, bad lsd trips is a collaboration between artists doris dana and Domingo Castillo. Last year, they released an album on enmossed that mixes early industrial, dark ambient and drone into shape-shifting structures. It's quickly become a personal favourite. 

Their Theory Therapy mix is a special one. Like their music, it's refreshingly unpredictable and tonally distinctive – a seemingly disparate collage of hums and sounds that will firmly lodge itself into your brain. Enjoy the trip.

Theory Therapy 56: bad lsd trips

To come ‘Full Circle’ is to travel the path and arrive back at the point you think you left from.

Full Circle, also known as Alexis Le-Tan (Wonders Ovze World) and Joakim (Tigersushi, Crowdspacer), a long term project with close friends Le-Tan and Joakim music project and “concept band born from loving ears that want to re-process our electronic past.”

They’ve delivered some amazing edits of obscure Goa tracks and remixed the likes of Die Orangen, 10Lec6, and Tapan and released on Good Morning Tapes and Vladimir Ivkovic’s Offen.

“To complete a journey is to learn and to slow down and re-imagine is to enrich – Full Circle hears the hedonistic sound of the 90’s in a light that reflects a different space for our current time and beyond. Always bridging the gap between the past and present: they are and continue to go Full Circle.”

Shine A Light On Mix... Full Circle (Alexis Le-Tan & Joakim)

African Head Charge is a legendary psychedelic dub outfit who have recently returned to their home label On-U Sound with A Trip To Bolgatanga, their first new album in 12 years. As always it finds the peerless Adrian Sherwood at the controls and joins the dots between what the collective has done before and what they are doing now, all with a distinctly Ghanian twist. The signature drums and chants remain at the core of the album of course, as well as plenty of other thrilling new sonic concoctions on keys, guitar, percussion, strings, vocals, kologo and more. It's the latest chapter in a fascinating story that has already seen them release some 16 albums since its inception in 1981. 

This week's mix is a deep dive into the uniquely melon-twisting sounds of African Head Charge. Sherwood's mastery at the controls means sound is twisted and contorted, dubbed out and reverb-rich from start to finish. Traditional dub sounds melt away into ghoulish vocal passages, unhinged instrumentals come and go and the collective's signature sense of dark soul and mystic ritual holds the whole thing together in a spellbinding fashion.
