Coymix Ltd, the label run by friends Steffan Todorovic and Timo Rotonen, releases impeccable projects like the world’s best vineyards release the finest fuckin’ wine you’ve never tasted. I’m lucky enough to be on their promo list (thanks bois it’s a goddamn honor), and everytime I get something new, my animal instincts tell me to throw ‘em on a USB and bury them in the park close to my apartment. In my head, this is a preservation technique, one for which I’d draw myself a decent pirate map to remember where it was buried. You might think this qualifies as “taking it too far,” but they said the same thing about Avalon Emerson’s “Art of DJing” and look at her shinin’ like the hottest star. Point is, like her, I’ll do what I want with my fuckin’ bangers, OK!? When the zombie apocalypse sends YOUR loved ones into hiding, I’ll be in the park with all of MY dj and audio gear soundtracking the shredding of my entrails with a Coymix project.

Joe Reddick aka Remotif is the London based producer responsible for COY004. Prior to this outing he’s released notable projects on air miles, Pleasant Life, Familiar Strangers, and Alfresco Disco. He most often excels at creating lush dreamlike “breakscapes,” but here we find him swapping tempos for four straight emotional club bangers that extend from techy house to trance and to psychedelic breaks. He’s ditched the butt chug for a butt plug, and lemme be the first to tell you, these tunes shake the anal cavity. Quick aside, if you don’t feel a tune in your asshole are you even listening properly? As a label head myself, I must feel my butt quake before I even consider signing a tune. So yeah, big up Joe, I’m gonna need restorative surgery on my sphincter after these repeat listens.

Shall we get to the music? It’s my pleaasssureee to premiere today the B1 from COY004, or what Remotif has dubbed the “Goodbye Sunshine EP.” “Telepathic Heights” is the project’s most melancholy tune, and another beautiful take on deep Detroit and Italo house, lush with wiggly synth lines, fever dream atmospheres, and a new-age vocal sample that repeats “enter, the unexpected door.” It’s a fitting whisper for a tune that makes me feel like I’m floating through the astral plane. If I was going to walk through a random glowing door, this is the tune that’d play after crossing the threshold. But hear me out, just because this tune sounds chill, doesn’t mean that it would tear up a dance floor. This is weaponry for transitional those moments when you’re moving a crowd from a to b to c to d. Or maybe, you’re just moving yourself, in which case this tune is equal amounts of gold for your headphones.

“Telepathic Heights” and the rest of COY004 releases on August 27th via the Coymix Ltd. Bandcamp and other major retailers of vinyl and digital rekkies. Do yourself a favor and cop a piece of electronic history. I don’t write often, but when I do, it’s for something worthy. This, and everything else from the Estonian/Finnish A&R masterminds is NOT TO BE MISSED.

Otto Taimela (interestingly, when written in French as "t’aime là," it means "Otto loves you there") is a part of the new wave of quietly innovative contemporary Finnish artists. His releases, spanning from local Finnish labels like Ultraääni Records to international platforms such as Reflections by Anjunadeep, showcase a broad spectrum from contemporary neo-classical to dubby experimental minimal techno and lofi house.

“Sunflower Seeds”, his debut release on Cold Blow, captures the essence of spring's rebirth, the return of warmth, and the energizing effect of sunlight designed to thaw the winter chill from the listener's soul. The premiere track “Sunshine: Reloading”' features a blend of ambient-breakbeat music with a nuanced experimental mix of colors and textures, delivering a melody that's both spacious and vaguely hazy. Moreover, Otto's own delicate piano playing adds a deeply personal touch to the track.

The EP is also the start of a trilogy from Otto Taimela, with the next releases planned for SWIMS, the experimental sister imprint of Cold Blow.

Lobster Theremin dig back down unda' to bring another fresh salty Aussie experience to the table with well seasoned young talent Shedbug aka Geordie Elliot-Kerr at the helm for this one. 

As co-head of Salt Mines he's been responsible for some of the most exciting new underground electronic bizz coming out of Aus - including Hymns, Rudolph C, Escape Artist and 92 Spacedrum Orchestra. 

As Shedbug he makes entrancing house, acid-tinted techno, cosmic electro and heavily stepped UK-influenced jams, with 12" EP's already landing via Of Paradise, Deeptrax, Flux and a cassette album for THRHNDRDSVNTNN. 

On Destination Love, Shedbug harnesses the emotive, pad-heavy sound showcased on previous outings whilst mixing in blend of interstellar synths, jagged breaks and crusted-yet-cutting drum work - all mixed down with some serious studio finishing. 

The ominously titled '2' opens the EP with three minutes of introspective ambient meditation. Followed closely by house hitter 'For You', a swirling, modulating, brooding wander into secret garden territory. An epic prog-house number that would sit just as well on the more sun-blissed side of the Running Back catalogue. 

Journeyman channels grinding saw waves and heaving drones for a stomping step into electro territory. Dry 909's underpinning the curtailed groaning lead lines. 

On the flip, title track 'Destination Love' is a hybrid house/electro-pop workout. Vocoded space-pod AI sings a heart-soothing melody of loss whilst the Italo-bassline and 80's Juno lead come soaring out of the wings. An android's composed interpretation of electronic love. 

Out of the back of the EP is You Think, a staggered, clattering & seriously wonky exit strategy. Heavy breathing and Perfect Dark percussion collide on this sci-fi retro thriller montage. A proper Hamburg basement weapon.

Greetings and welcome from Axces. We're a small local Copenhagen community of friends and curious souls. This is our very first record. 

The record was created in 2017 at the professional facilities we've come to know as Nordvest Auto. On both tracks, you'll hear a lot of drums, some bass, effects, samples, vocals and sounds from beyond, we don't know how to describe. They've been tested on various sound systems during the past year, and we can ensure you that a flat EQ and max volume will suit the tracks almost anywhere. 

We really hope you enjoy our effort. If you should ever find yourself in Copenhagen Axces will provide counselling and guidance at own risk.

Fresh off the back of EPs on I Love Acid, Tusk Wax, Craigie Knowes & Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, this groove-laden, acid-flecked outing delves deep into the sounds of classic house.  
 
Lead track ‘Chevrolet’ featuring London based singer Josh Caffé sets the vibe perfectly. Catchy vocals meet crunchy drum sequences and playful pad patterns, rolling steady with a stripped-back groove and touches of smooth chords. A proper deep summertime banger. ‘The Depth’ unleashes face-melting acid basslines crashing together with classic 808 drum hits. A scorching dancefloor weapon. ‘Jupiter Traxx’ takes the EP in a swerving into oddball territory, withd charged broken percussion colliding with eerie vocals and wild sax hits for a classic proto-electro number. ‘My House My Rules’ closes out the EP: a classic drum track that slowly builds until the introduction of heavily processed spoken word melodies and washed out chords. A steady-rolling depth-charged journey to the end.
