Between the Cracks at the End of the World is a panicked frenzy for Alto Sax and Violin. This chaotic duet was commissioned during the 2020 COVID-19 Quarantine. This premiere was recorded for the March 5th JCA Composers' Orchestra performance in the Howard L. Schrott Center for the Performing Arts at Butler University.

Invictus is a setting of the titular poem by William Ernest Henley for 8-part SATB.  Written amidst the quarantine and political turmoil of 2020, Invictus serves as a reminder that we are not yet conquered and will stand strong in the face of adversity.

Do Not Disturb is a work for Guitar and Voice that was written for the 2021 24-Hour Concert at Butler University. This concert is a fun frenzy for its composers, who pick their performers at random exactly 24 hours before the concert starts, and have the remaining time to write, rehearse, and ultimately have their piece premiered live in concert.

Do Not Disturb is a ballad composed by Alex McGrath about the alarming amount of useless or bizarre notifications that quite often clog one's phone with random information and silly news stories. This premiere was recorded live at the Eidson Duckwall Recital Hall on October 30th, 2021.

Envoi was written in 2019 for studio strings and piano. This piece explores the bittersweet feeling of a last goodbye with a loved one or close friend. Envoi was written as if it were to accompany a similarly emotional scene in a film.

Suite from The Man in the Suit is a work of incidental music for solo violin, originally conceived to accompany a collaborative arts project comprised of original theatrical, dance, and music elements. The production was set to premiere at the Howard L. Schrott Center for Performing Arts in April of 2020, but was tragically cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This recording was realized by award-winning violinist Clara Kim (https://clarakimviolin.wordpress.com/) as a part of her Composers At Home initiative, an ongoing personal project to record new works whose premieres were cancelled by the pandemic.

String Quartet in G (2020), by Alex McGrath, is a string quartet designed to evoke the imagery of a dream sequence comprised of Romantic adventures, uneasy mysteries, and terrifying nightmares. 

It is comprised of three movements, as follows:
I. Allegro
II. Andante Misterioso
III. Adagio e Scherzo

This performance was recorded by the New York-based Argus Quartet in early 2021.

A composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Alex McGrath is an ambitious musician who has dipped his hands in many different styles of writing. Since picking up the violin at age five, Alex has added French horn, trumpet, bass guitar, and piano to his collection of musical instruments. Alex has dabbled in many different styles of composition, from Romantic symphonic overtures to minimalist chamber works, ultimately aspiring to write music for movies, games, and television shows. Alex is currently studying Music Composition with Dr’s. Michael Schelle and Frank Felice at Butler University, while also working towards a double major in Computer Science.
