i like the dark feel and so far the track is very dynamic. my critical feedback would be this: create space; just because it's heavy or dark or banging doesn't mean there can't be spaciousness. as a dancer and listener i always appreciate this. i like a lot of minimal stuff and also melodic, but i love percussive bass heavy dark sounds with it. i always say, aim for a unique sound. this is solid though and pretty straightforward, this track. good prod and quality. are you using ableton?

AUTONOMOUS have eventually revealed they are the electro side project of Glasgow’s SLAM . Having released their first track as a remix of SLAM’s “ Synchro” back in 2018 and then the full 3 track “Dialekt EP” on the SOMA sub-label AVOIDANT in 2020. They now have a third outing on the massive  AVOIDANT compilation “Defend Your Planet”, titled “Municipal Monorail”,  alongside some of the genres titans and talented new comers. Syrte is the Electro & Experimental Electronica alias for Stefan Weise. The name was inspired by the French comic book Valerian & Laureline, the German editions of which Stefan read in his younger days. On page one of the first issue, “The City of a Thousand Planets” is named “Syrte”. 

What started as a way to explore new production methods quickly evolved into a character of its own making Syrte a completely faceless entity with a strong focus on alien and experimental music. Syrte is not about conforming to a set genre or sound. Stefan’s mission as Syrte is about exploring deeper relationships that humans have with machines and moral implications that arise from that and expressing that via music.

Syrte has vinyl releases on Science Cult, which he runs with Jimmy Freer (Visions of Glosters) and upcoming releases on Avoidant.

Originally from Mexico, Alejandro Martinez (aka Alex M) has had a deep passion for music from a very early age. At 11, he was already listening to industrial, metal and hip-hop groups like Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Metallica, Slayer and A Tribe Called Quest. In 1996 at age 14, he started attending illegal raves and warehouse parties and found himself captivated by the brilliant sounds of Global Communication, Aphex Twin, Underworld, Coldcut and Future Sound of London. 

He got his first taste of vinyl in 1998 when his best friend purchased a pair of Technics and would both take turns trying to beatmatch records for hours on end, mixing every type of underground electronic music that came into their possession. Shortly after becoming room mates, they began to play house parties and after parties on a regular basis. When Alex turned 21, he frequented New York City nightclubs such as Crobar, Spirit, Cielo, Sullivan Room and Arc, where Danny Howells, Danny Tenaglia, Sander Kleinenberg and others would play their famous marathon sets.

Alex quickly picked up a weekly residency on Bulgarian based internet radio site, Stream FM. On his show ‘Central Control’ he featured special guest DJs and producers, among them were Dave Robertson (aka Reset Robot) and Anil Chawla (Global Underground). He has been a guest on Proton, Frisky, Danceradio.gr and Innervisions Radio UK many times. His mixes reached DJMix.net’s top mixes on various occasions and he was also given the opportunity to mix progcast 091 for Progressivehouse.com, which became one of the highest rated podcasts on the site.

After making the decision to relocate to Denver, Colorado in March of 2009, he quickly established a name within the local EDM community and founded Hemisphere Groove Collective. With 15 years under his belt, he's not exactly a lightweight. He's played at the best venues in the Mile High City, including NORAD Dance Bar, Beatport Lounge, Bar Standard and Funky Buddha, as well as gigs in Las Vegas, Houston and NYC. Together with Hemisphere Groove Collective, he has managed to bring in talent from all over the US, as well as featuring some of the best locals at Opal in downtown Denver, where they hold a weekly residency called Raw Thursdays. 

Alex's unique and versatile mixing allows him to fuse different genres together flawlessly and displays these skills every time on radio shows and live performances. He has had the pleasure of sharing the stage and being a part of multilple events with huge names like Chris Fortier, Erphun and Patrice Baumel to name a few. He was also asked to be a part of the Denver Winter Showcase for a 2nd year. In addition to Djing and promoting, Alex has also taken up music production and recently collaborated with Jan van Lier of Skint and Definitive Recordings and looks forward to launching a new label, podcast and website soon.
