My brother Gary and I were at our Nan's bedside at the hospice when the medication kicked in and there was no more communication . I had never faced death before - it was my worst moment. This song is about that moment. When I first played it to my elder brother Brian he said it was the best song he had ever heard. That was good enough for me.
We lost Brian in 2012 at the young age of 63 and his family asked permission to play it at his funeral which, of course, was my privilege. I wish there could have been many more unguarded moments with my Bri.  (Terry Reeves)

"No Fundo do Mar"

"No Fundo Do Mar" (Tunas Celtic Band)

This is a very rare live recording of Packie Russell, made in Gus O'Connor's Pub, Doolin, County Clare in 1973, by John Knight. It has only been recovered from the original cassette tape now, some 45+ years later.

The introduction is a message from Packie Russell to his friend and fellow concertina player, Andrew Knight. Other people mentioned were George Henderson and members of the Knight family.

This may well be one of the most culturally priceless musical recordings that I've recovered from John Knight's (my Great Grandfather) cassettes, so far - Recordings of the late County Clare concertina player Packie Russell are rare indeed!

As fame of the Russell brothers spread people came from around the world to meet them in Doolin. All three rarely played together and while Micho toured the world, Packie and Gussie were content to stay close to home. There, they helped to establish Doolin as the traditional music capital of Ireland. They frequented the now-legendary Doolin pub Gus O'Connors, where this recording was made.

My Grandpa and his brothers befriended the Russell brothers, Packie in particular becoming a friend to my late Grandpa Andrew Knight and an inspiration for his burgeoning concertina playing.

Their dad John Knight visited Doolin in 1973 and made this rare extended recording of Packie. There really aren't many recordings of Packie floating around, so to have recovered this from the original cassette recording today and to have found that it is so extensive and of such good quality has really filled me with joy! I'm certain this will mean a lot to a lot of people.

Pioneiro da gaita de fole irlandesa no Brasil, também conhecida por Uilleann Pipes (pronuncia-se: ílan páipis). Navar foi o primeiro Brasileiro a estudar de forma regular a música tradicional na Irlanda e um dos primeiros a desenvolver e divulgar o gênero musical em solo tupiniquim, especialmente no Rio de Janeiro onde reside.

Em sua temporada na Irlanda também estudou as flautas típicas Tin whistle e Low whistle, com foco nas tradições musicais da ilha Esmeralda.

Sua formação musical engloba as escolas: “Cumma na bPiobairi Corcaigh” (O Clube dos Gaiteiros-de-fole de Cork), a “Na Piobairi Uilleann” (A Escola de Gaita-de-fole Irlandesa de Dublin), assim como, a Willie Clancy Summer School.

Navar também atua como cantor e compositor. Seus estudos de canto foram ministrados pelo célebre Prof.José Spinto e seu mais recente trabalho foi a composição da trilha sonora "Rock In Reel" para o comercial da Rock Street/Rock In Rio 2013 onde também atuou como figurante. Entre os seus trabalhos, destaca-se o de prestar consultoria e gravar para a trilha sonora da novela "Eterna Magia" de 2007 da Rede Globo, onde também atuou como figurante em alguns capítulos, como também, sua entrevista concedida no “Programa do Jô” como especialista em “gaita irlandesa” onde, na ocasião, se apresentou ao lado do "sexteto".

Recentemente, Alex Navar foi responsável por escalar e produzir um seleto grupo de músicos Brasileiros especializados na música tradicional Irlandesa para se apresentar no Rock In Rio de 2013 na Rock Street. Ao seu lado a banda Sensessional apresentou temas típicos da Irlanda em todos os dias do evento obtendo enorme sucesso de público e crítica.

Atualmente, Alex Navar é integrante da banda Sensessional e Kernunna. Esta última, lançou seu primeiro CD “The Seim Anew” na Rock Street no Rock In Rio.

Alex participa ainda como produtor e/ou músico em diversos eventos, solenidades e cerimônias de casamento pelo Brasil.
