The third in an ongoing thematic series of live jam mini mixes that act as an open sketchbook playground to evolve track ideas and loops for your listening pleasure. It ends with a knowing nod to my past in a post punk industrial band back in the day.

“You know it's true, don't you?" You know it's true, sometimes emotions can be darn unsettling and disturbing – as they flow deep down our consciousness uncovering fears, thoughts and feelings. Yes, if we're focused too much on our personal hedonistic euphorias, sometimes we lose that... It gets lost; You know it's true. You may know it's true.

Manfredi Romano aka Dj Tennis shapes this treasure, a release that is decisively out of the box; a small cathedral made of subtle shades and unusual EQ's, where ideas seduce and frighten.

That's “Divisions”, led by Danish singer and guitarist Jeppe Kjellberg. Who's words and voice are carefully crafted as a precious, poisoning weapon of concern and bewilderment; as it is “Chirality” a deep, insistent, gelid voyage. Which distinctively in this round, We find ourselves not only with Tennis' masterful production skills but also the astounding addition of Sophie Trudeau's string work – she's been the driving force behind the string sections of legendary Canadian post-rockers Godspeed You Black Emperor, one of the most dark, cinematic and unsettling rock acts of the last decades – which really ads a poignant and visionary mood and emotions we rarely encounter and by that we can rarely breathe.

The original edits have been respectfully and creatively revisited by techno pioneer Roman Flügel, who masterfully rubs “Divisions”; turning it into a sensual, devious, laid down affaire. Lastly, closing the ride , the legendary English duo Plaid - true masters and innovators within the Intelligent Dance Music field- grace “Chirality” with their very own touch made of alien sounds, mutant rhythm architectures, warm dynamics and heartbreaking melodic caresses that iconically represents their visions.

Alex Niggemann’s new EP 'Hurricane' (Balance Music) follows up the AEON label boss & producer's recent success, the stunning ‘Balance Presents…’ compilation, which dropped in October 2016. 

The upcoming EP features the exclusive track 'Hurricane (Club Mix)’, alongside the original, a new original 'Silhouettes & Sparks', plus remixes from Deetron & Denis Horvat.

Niggemann is forever breaking new ground. Where the compilation allowed him to curate a story through the medium of 'the mix', ‘Hurricane’ showcases the beginning of a new chapter for his melancholic-pop-driven alter ego 'The Shadow Self'. Both original tracks on the release are emotive melodies where thoughtful composition and vocals are key. 

‘I have been working on music like this for a while,’ Alex says. ‘As an artist, it’s important to reinvent myself, explore uncharted territory and have a wider view of how music can sound and how differently you can do things. This EP mirrors the music that I listen to when I’m traveling or relaxing; having a break from 4x4 beats, which usually rule my world. This also inspires me when I come back to produce House/Techno. 

‘It’s great that I can use this platform to introduce my new project ‘The Shadow Self’ to show a different ‘me’ on a label that transcends musical borders and supports the freedom of music as art… as art doesn’t have borders.’

'Hurricane' will be released on Friday 3rd February on Balance Music.

One of the most monstrous tracks we've heard in some time comes from @RuedeHagelstein, unleashing this beast of a track on @WatergateRecords' 'Watergate Affairs 02' various artists EP. As a DJ, producer and label boss of AEON, Berlin’s Alex Niggemann’s career has been instrumental in the continued development of electronic dance music. His ever-restless creativity and desire to build a platform for music that defines the deeper side of the electronic spectrum, led Alex to launch his very successful label, AEON in 2013 – an imprint which has gone on to play an integral part in building Alex’s impressive repertoire of releases to this point and beyond.
