the disc in the image is the Sky Disc of Nebra in Germany, pupported to be a 3,600 year old depiction of the heavens including the pleiades. There was a suggestion of it being fake but I think that's been pretty much disproven. A beautiful thing either way.

From the original write up: Crème managed to license this superb Giallo soundtrack from the vaults of Francesco Clemente, a forgotten Italian producer. When the movie was withdrawn due to monetary problems, this insane synthesizer gem landed on the shelf to collect dust. It was only years later that it was rediscovered by a Japanese collector who has so far kept it for himself, but after persuasive words from the Crème management decided to share it with the world. Mastered from the original tapes.

This is a piece I made for the The Science Museum's OraMIX competition--where we were given stems of bits made by the amazing Daphne Oram.   
We were meant to imagine what Oram would have composed for the 1967 TV show "Our World"--a TV show where everything had to be live.
For this reason, I decided to base my piece around improvisations and live transformations that I performed in real-time on the new ipod mini-version of Oram's own Oramics Machine--imagining Oram performing it live for the show. The rest of the piece is made by manipulating the stems provided using basic music concrete techniques.

Alex Ookpik was a Montréaler writing, performing and producing avant-pop and electroacoustic music (Dec.7th, 1975 - Nov.24th, 2016). Her first album MegaFauna is here on bandcamp : https://alexookpik.bandcamp.com/releases     It has been released digitally and as a limited edition cd. One hundred percent of the proceeds go directly to the Alexandra Olsen Memorial Bursary at Concordia University for a female electroacoustic / electronic music composer. Her music bridges the worlds of pop and experimental music; taking in acoustic instruments, synthesis, field recordings, and studio manipulations.

Former lead-singer and keyboard player of the Montreal post-rock band Marlowe (1995-2005); releasing two albums and sharing the stage with Tindersticks, Snowpony (ex-My Bloody Valentine & Stereolab), April March, The Dears, Feist, and The Besnard Lakes, among others.

She has participated in many different side projects and collaborations over the years: electroacoustic composition (60x60), music and sound design for theatre and short films, producing other artists, and tracks for special projects like OraMIX (Daphne Oram tribute) and BCM (Bedroom Cassette Masters), and a mixtape for Steven Hall's Mitamine Lab. She has also had the honour of being remixed by various artists from around the world, notably: Quivion, Soft Enerji, and Grimes Adhesif.
