"Summer Nights is the song that reminds me of the first lockdown. It’s was all of my fears about what I was doing with myself/my life and what was going on around the world. I spent about 6 or 7 weeks on my own in that lockdown and I just remember the constant barrage of bad news and bad times that happened as you sit there, painfully watching the news and hoping that things are going to get better soon.”

I Let My Plant Die

Although otherworldly in its textures, indie-pop group Quiet Kids new, self-titled EP is rooted firmly in the ties that bind. Family and friends serve as the bedrock to finding one’s voice, as Quiet Kids have done exactly that with their short player coming via Good Eye Records.

Formed in 2014 in McAllen, TX by songwriter Andy Peña with bassist Devin Garcia, the two started writing under the moniker once things started to settle with their previous group Dignan. They would then artfully craft a fuller sound recruiting keyboardist David Ramirez and drummer Adrian Loera. The band would then go on to earn support slots for luminaries such as Angel Olsen, Mitski, Miniature Tigers.

The music on the Quiet Kids EP mixes dreamy synths with smooth basslines and tight drums as melodic vocals touch on everyday themes.

Peña details, “People, places and things pull you in every direction, and it’s easy to please any and everyone. If we all just said what was on our minds we’d have much more of an understanding of who we are, and what we’re looking for... It’s only in the stability of my relationships that I realized I can write about whatever I feel. My art is me, and my family, and friends.”

"Quiet Kids" is out now and is the fourteenth release from Good Eye Records.

Somewhere in the land of uninhibited love and playful sins, Meggie Lennon is both the game and the rule that begs to be broken, crafting her songs through spirals of unrepentant escapism.

Following the release of GAMIQ nominated EP Endless Nights and Dreamlike Mornings in 2017 under the name Abrdeen, the singer-songwriter wasted no time making a name for herself, taking her music across the province alongside well-established acts such as Good Morning, The Dears, Julie Doiron, Sugar Candy Mountain and Laura Sauvage. Now working under her own name, Lennon teamed up with producers Sam Gemme (Corridor, Anemone) and Jules Henry. The young woman has been working with them on a new release titled Sounds From Your Lips, which is due in 2020. 

An original take on modern music, where psych-pop and make-out rock become the soundtrack to whatever comes next…
