The 49th Motek podcast comes from Inside Out Records founder and owner Alex Zed. Alex has been a part of electronic music and club culture for over 15 years which has seen him share the decks with such Techno luminaries as Mauro Picotto, Dave the Drummer and Chris Liberator. He has DJ’d in many of the worlds finest clubs and can be found every month with his Down Under residency at London’s Big Chill. As a producer he has seen his music released on the likes of Dancepush, Chapter 24 alongside his own Inside Out imprint and his style is reflected in this mix. A style of eclectic influences, based around but not limited to Deep House.

Alex Zed has been a part of electronic music and club culture for over 15 years. Originally from Sicily, Alex moved to London aged 25 and began to organise weekly underground parties. Since then, he has played to numerous dancefloors across Europe and beyond. Alex's musical style reflects his eclectic influences, combining deep and tech house and techno to create a unique sound. In 2013 he launched Inside Out Records and in 2016 he marked his first appearance on Chapter 24 with a brace of great tracks, including 'Over My Head' feat. Billie Fountain.

Alessandro Lombardo aka Alex Zed has been a part of electronic music and club culture for over 15 years. Alex benefited from his parents vast eclectic record collection and so started from a very young age. Uniquely accomplished in both influence and scope, he has excelled in every one of his incubations: DJ, label owner and producer.

At the age of 18 he started playing at local parties of his hometown. Originally hailing from Sicily, Alex soon found the club scene of London irresistible, and so relocated at the age 25 to try his hand behind the decks of Mass club in Brixton. He has shared the decks with such techno luminaries as Mauro Picotto, Dave the Drummer and Chris Liberator. Soon he started organizing his own weekly events in underground venues and warehouses in East London.

International music entrepreneurs have noticed his mixing skills and Alex was invited to play at the finest clubs including The City, Cancun – Transit, Philadelphia – The Vagabond, Miami as well as numerous venues across Europe. He has since enjoyed immense success, blowing up dancefloors across the globe (especially in UK) to sold-out-crowds. Alex is also a prolific and respected producer,having released several EPs in "Authenticbit" such as 8Joyz ,Sweet Vibration and others.

Recently, his dream of creating his own music label have come true. Inside Out Records is a new label established in London,UK that meets great success from the beginning. He is collaborating with important names of the field in remixes and EPs that will soon be released.

His relationship with music goes a long way back. In fact, he actually got his start at a very young age. His parents had a phenomenal record collection, with some truly classic gems to spin. Needless to say, Alex got spoiled when it comes to amazing music, and he learn to recognised quality sounds very early on, due to being exposed to such a diverse array of fantastic influences! 

By the time he had turned 18, Alex moved from becoming a keen music fan, to actually take performing more seriously. He started out at local events in his hometown in Sicily, Italy, and as they say, the rest is history! Willing and motivated to take his career to the next level, Alex left the sunny Sicilian shores for the bursting lights of London, where he went on to pursue his dream of working as a full-time DJ. His first set on an international scale actually happened at the famed Mass Club (Brixton), well-known for the highly energetic raves hosted there. Since then, Alex went on to share the decks with well-known acts. 

His sets are particularly dynamic and engaging, offering a personal and witty perspective on club music, without compromising on the entertainment side. In other words, this set-lists have a lot of depth and richness, but they are also immediate, fun and appealing from the get go. While living in London, Alex became well connected within the local music scene, so much so that he organised many of his own independent events. He  was consistently running weekly DJ sets in underground warehouses in East London. 

It was through this event management experience that he discovered his talent for the other side of the music industry. Alex has been performing as a DJ for over 15 years now. During this time, he has perfected his act, creating immersive and hypnotising sets in front of sold-out-crowds. 

On top of this, Alex is a well-known producer. In his music, he seamlessly blurs the lines between techno and deep, and many other influences. While Alex’s music remain appealing and extremely direct, there is also lot of depth to the music and concept, making for a great balance between appeal and sophistication... Who said catchy music can’t be smart? 

Alex creates stunning productions, which are inspired, direct and exciting, with a very dynamic feel and a stunning tone that sounds very charismatic and loaded with personality. In addition to that, the sound of his work has a smooth, balanced tone, appealing to listeners from all walks of life! Now Alex he is on a mission to release a slew of remixes and EPs from established names in the industry.
