Three pieces for English horn, bassoon and electric piano. The first(Andante) is in a modified rondo form (ABCBA) and is harmonized by dominant seventh chords. The second (Adagio)is a kind of theme with two variations and explores the diminished chord with an added major seventh, The last piece (Allegro) is in binary form and utilizes augmented major seventh chords.

Trio For English Horn, Bassoon And Electric Piano

A piece for a small orchestra with choir and percussion, written in sonata form, but with the first theme in F minor and the second theme in E major. The first theme and bridge are in 3/4 but the second theme is in 4/4.  The development section uses thematic material from the first theme but recasts it in 4/4.

My Happy Place (Allegro for Small Orchestra, Choir and Percussion)

A piece in rondo form (ABACABA). The harmonic style derives from using 13th chords with an emphasis on the 9th, 11th, and 13th. The A theme is in 6/8, the B theme in 7/8, and the C theme in 10/8.

Rondo: Allegro scherzoso, a volte selvaggio

A stately little dance in 3/4 for a small ensemble. Unlike a Bach sarabande,  this one isn't in binary form but in ABA form.

Sarabande

A happy, up-tempo little piece in 9/8, but with the rhythm of each bar sub-divided into 2+2+2+3. The piece is in binary form, starts and ends in F Major but digresses into the keys of D flat Major, C Major, G Minor, and A flat Major along the way.

Allegro Gioioso

A canon for three instruments: violin, trumpet and bassoon. Guitar, bass and percussion provide an accompaniment. The piece is Lento, in 3/4 and in binary form. It starts and ends in G major with detours into C minor and E flat major along the way.

Canon For Violin, Trumpet And Bassoon

A lively baroque-influenced duet for two pianos. It is in binary form and modulates from E minor to Bb Major to A minor before returning to E Minor. The time signature is 14/16, subdivided into 6 and 8 beats.

Canon For Two Pianos

A little binary theme in B Flat which travels to and from D Minor and E Flat minor. There are three variations.

Andantino And Variations

The first piece is an Andante in 4/4 featuring canonic imitation. The second piece is an Adagio theme with two variations in 3/8. The final piece is marked Allegro and is in binary form and 7/16 meter.

Three Little Pieces For Guitar Trio

A short Allegretto in ABCB'A' form.  The meter changes in each section, moving from 4/4 to 3/4 to 5/4. I start and end the piece in C major, modulating through the keys of E minor, F major and D minor.

Piece For Clarinet, String Trio And Percussion

A happy little piece in 10/16. Although I've used the standard scherzo and trio form (AABBCCDDAB)the tonal relationships between the sections are not in the traditional pattern. Here I go from G Major to Eb Minor, with trips to F# minor, Ab Major, and F Major before finally returning to G.

Scherzo For Flute, Violin And Piano

A lyrical nostalgia runs through this piece, scored for a small chamber group. English horn, French horn and bass clarinet carry the melody while being supported by a contrabass, vibraphone and mandolin. The ensemble is completed with the addition of some subtle percussion.

October's Andante

A brisk double fugue for violin, viola and cello. Besides the two subjects there is a countersubject used throughout the piece. The key is E minor but it goes as far afield as G# minor.

Double Fugue For String Trio

A double fugue for oboe, clarinet and bassoon. The exposition of the second subject starts around the 1'32" mark with a solo entrance in the bassoon. There is also a countersubject which is used throughout the piece. The meter is 5/4. Although the fugue begins and ends in C minor the tonality travels to keys as distant as E minor and Eb minor.

Double Fugue For Woodwind Trio

A fugue for brass quartet where after the exposition the subject is then heard in its inversion. There are then two stretto sections where the subject alternates with its inversion, the first stretto at two bars and the final stretto at one bar. The tonality begins and ends in D minor but manages to go as far afield as Eb minor.

Fugue For Brass Quartet

A little piece for chamber ensemble in binary form. It starts and ends in A major but along the way it travels to Bb minor, D major, G minor, and Eb major.

Allegro In December

A piece for trumpet, tenor sax, acoustic guitar and bass. It's built around a 4 bar theme, heard first in the trumpet. The piece is in ABA form with the main theme used in its inversion throughout the B section. The A section is in E minor while the B section is in F major. Caliban Dreams Of Parnassus

A short piece for a chamber ensemble, it's light in mood with a contrapuntal interweaving of melodic lines. The form is modified tripartite (AABBCCAB). The piece begins and ends in F Major but travels through E Minor, D Minor, and Bb Minor along the way.

January's Mischief

A short, lively solo work for piano, utilizing techniques such as inversion, retrograde, and retrograde inversion.

Allemande And Gigue For Piano

A piece for two cellos and piano. I've modeled the form after the idea of the French overture ( ABA' slow-fast-slow). The fast section is a chaconne-- a series of variations over a fixed chord progression. The slow section is in binary form.

Cello Duet

A pretty little piece I recently wrote for three flutes (including an alto flute) accompanied by guitar and bass. The form is A A' B A". The A sections are in 7/8 but the B section is in 6/8.

Flute Trio

A short duet for violin and cello in binary form. I used a short theme and its retrograde form in the first section and then I inverted the theme and used that along with its retrograde inversion in the second section. The piece moves from  F Major to E Minor in the first section and then from B Major back to F Major in the second section.

Music for a woodwind ensemble. I used the baroque binary form. A short theme is then heard in its inversion, retrograde, and retrograde inversion. The 7/8 meter and retrograde forms allowed me to try using the 3+4 rhythmic grouping simultaneously with the 4+3 grouping, making for some fun rhythmic interplay.

Sextet For Winds

A lively little piece in 5/8. Thematic coherence is achieved by using devices like inversion, retrograde, and retrograde inversion. There is rhythmic interplay between the 2+3 and the 3+2 groupings of the eighth notes and the juxtaposition and travel to such disparate tonalities as G Major and B flat Minor.

Allegro (con Ebollizione)

A duet for oboe and piano. I wanted to write a brief piece using sonata form, but using three themes (like Schubert did) and basing all thematic material on different forms of the 1st theme. The 2nd theme is the inversion of the 1st, the third theme is the retrograde of the 1st, and the theme heard in the development is the retrograde inversion of the 1st. The exposition moves from A minor to Bb Major to E Major. The development begins in C# minor and the recapitulation moves from D minor to Eb Major to A Major.

Two Part Invention (Andante Con Moto)

Four short pieces for acoustic guitar, English horn, and clarinet. I made use of the capo on three of the guitar accompaniments, employing multiple pedal points on some of the open strings(mostly strings 1,2,3 and 6). I think the end results are both simple and expressive.
