At Santa's workshop the elves are busy at work. To keep their spirits bright they sing this working song as they build and make the gifts and toys for little girls and boys.

this is work for Christmas Day.

(The elves rush to the windows and look outside - snow is falling and winter is everywhere – the girl elves sing the 1st stanza) 

Outside snow is falling.

When you see that whiteness 
you'll know Christmas Night is 
nearer, nearer to day.	

(Then the elves return to their work and finish the song all together)

Banish the Darkness Musical

THE DANCER'S WALTZ
Music by Alfred Sherer

Act 2, Scene 2: 1914 - The occasion is the annual trip to Ft. Myers Florida and Henry Ford is having a party at his estate which is next to Edison's. Henry loves to dance and asked his wife to join him in a waltz which he has asked Mina to play on the piano. 

She starts playing a one finger melody of The Dancer’s Waltz as Henry and his wife pick up the beat. At this point the full orchestra starts and several couples join the dance moving in a circle around the Fords with the full stage now in use. Scenery has moved back, lighting has change and a full regalia of dancers are swirling around in a full-out choreographed waltz.  As the music comes to an end, the dancers fade and all that is left is Henry and his wife dancing with a single spot light gradually slowing down to end the song.

The One Love for Me - Piano and Viola

This song is offered as a stand-alone Christmas Song, as well as part of the musical "Banish the Darkness", which is based on the life of Thomas Edison.

In "Banish the Darkness", Act 2, Scene 4: Edison returns to his first love, the phonograph, and due to his dissatisfaction with his company’s recording catalog, he essentially becomes the company’s music director, even at the advanced age of 79. He proceeds to audition several singers, one being an Irish tenor named William O’Reilly, whom he summarily dismisses because he sings with a tremolo. He then meets Jerry Blaine.  Mr. Blaine sings a Christmas song which turns out to be a showstopper.

"You Are My Portrait" is the signature song of Carson from the Children's Christmas Musical - Carson the Camel. In the story, Carson has a dream to be one of Santa's reindeer and pull Santa's sleigh on Christmas eve.  In fact, he believed so strongly in his dream that he actually sees himself as a reindeer in his mirror at home.  He sings this song to his "portrait" in the mirror. 

The story continues with Carson making the long journey to Santa's Workshop at the North Pole and finally, through Santa's help, he realizes that he's really not a reindeer and that camels themselves played a very important role in the story of Christmas.

The melody was inspired by the lyrics written by Mark Twain in his book, “Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc” (1896). The melody was composed by Alfred Sherer in 2018, 122 years after Mark Twain had published his book.  There is no referenced or published melody in the book.

This song is, in a sense, much more than just a children's musical rhyme...  I believe that Mark Twain, through the lyrics of "Arbre Fee de Bourlemont", was actually writing about France and that the song expresses the deep feelings that the French people have for their country.

It is a recurrent theme in the musical La Pucelle (The Maid) which is based on the life of Joan of Arc and is currently in early production.
