Alfresco Guest mix - VOLAR

After his chart topping Debut release on our Maximum Joy EP, J's been hard at work on his follow up solo EP. 

Ahead of his Glastonbury gigs, we asked him to record a mix for us. It's a mixture of old, new and his own productions. It's definitely had us dancing - summer vibes abound. x

J.Morrison - Warm Red Stripe Mix

The Maximum Joy pt. 2 EP presents 4 good friends of the Alfresco Crew, both old and new, who each bring something different to the e.p whilst still maintaining the free spirited Alfresco Vibe.

Thermal Bear brings in a straight up classic deep house beat with 'Round and Round'. Outrageously warm chunky production and one to keep the crowd moving in the wee hours.

Kemback's effort shuffles effortlessly into the mind, taking you on a dreamy trip to somewhere wonderful. A strong nod to Floating Points here with it's heavy swing, gritty drums, and Kemback makes subtle but powerful use of his fine musicianship. 

James Fox brings the good time disco-house vibe with the sample-heavy 'Feeling Free'. The wonderful arrangement and vocal make this a pure summer record that's been getting great crowd reactions.

Our Cornish Connection and newcomer Kieran Holden slows it down and makes it nice and trippy with the magnificent 'Wild Palms'. We love this dark, acid tinged sound which adds a different dimension to the ep and shows why Kieran has already been getting props from the likes of Tici Taci and the LFOS crew.

J Morrison smashed it with his debut track on Maximum Joy pt. 1, the highly addictive deep house cut 'Some Fella'.  This mid tempo Afro-house track had that rare combination of being super deep - but with the power to rock any dance floor. 

The Freedom EP, J Morrison's first Full EP release is the same, and more. The lead track calls up a looped and filtered afrobeat sample that just keeps on giving. Reminiscent of Cottam's early work, and sure to be a hit in the sunshine of a festival stage or a dark club. "Stay High" is more driving, tribal, druggy affair that reminds us Peace Division in their prime. Late night heads down dance floor vibes, with a killer vocal sample that creates real magic.  Soft Play" is a deeper track and just like 'Some Fella' the arrangement and choice of samples merge create another floor friendly that will be a useful tool for a wide range of DJs. Alfresco Disco co-founder Lukas steps up for remix duties and flips the samples of Freedom for a more choppy, chicago style bumping house track - which rounds off the E.P rather nicely we think. We hope you think so too!

Boogie Cafe Guest Mix

We are very happy excited to reveal to you the next installment of Alfresco Disco records. Seka is a close friend and has played and raved at many of the Alfresco Disco parties. 

Not only a great selector, here he clearly demonstrates he is no slouch in the studio either. From his studio in the heart of Bristol, Seka has used an analogue approach and his trusty MPC to carve out three satisfying, sample heavy house cuts that are unique and full of character. 

On the remix duties we enlisted the Portugese Maestro Tiago, a resident at the brilliant Lux club in Lisbon who brings a live, percussive vibe to the release.

Danvers - Broken Kicks Mix (Guest Mix)

Guest mix this month coming from emerging DJ talent.. Beattie (Restless Nights) who is no stranger to Alfresco Disco DJ action either after playing an incredible set at Alfresco Disco, ROTD2 last year.  This mix recorded in one take using a mix of classic vinyl and CDJ2000's captures a snapshot of his incredible selection tastes gets us right the mood for summer business with his summery vibes!
