This week’s virtual guest of PsyBaBas radio show is CALI’BALAM.

Cali’Balam project was created in 2012 by Carlos Gonzalez, based in Guatemala. Since then, he has released dozens of tracks in labels such as Voodoo Hoodoo Records (Canada), Sacred Sound (India) Terramorph Records (Brazil), among others.
Over the years he has played in the major festivals in Central America, presenting his unique style that can be defined as High Technical Dark-Psy Core. Carlos enjoys experimenting with all BPM ranges and also has a Psytrance project and a Chill-Downtempo Project, He is also part of Xochi’Balam Project, which album was featured on Goa Gil’s Divine Dozen CD Chart for June 2019.

Toxic jungle is about the petrochemical age of humans. With petrochemical industry and capital we create and produce a lot of un recyclable materials that mix with our earth. Nowadays you can find plastics, micro-plastics in the nature, in the forests, in the oceans, inside the animals and plants, as well as chemicals in the sea and the air. If we don’t stop producing such kind of materials, many animals and plants will die and our water and air and earth will suffer grave consequences. We will either evaporate or mutate in the ages to come with this defected life style offered to us by the petrochemical capital and industry. This album is to remind us that our earth is precious and fragile. There has always been infinite power and the circle of life in this planet, until one of the species, i.e. humans, gained the power to destroy everything.
Nowadays we are terribly worried about the human race with the epidemic of the corona virus. But we still cannot see that if we do not stop using this system we are living in, we will become the biggest and the most hazardous virus for this planet! We are growing in number each year unconsciously. Now there are more than 7 billion people living on this planet abiding the rules of this wrong and unfair system. People are dying each day by the thousands due to hunger and people killing each other for stupid reasons. A lot of animal species have become and are becoming extinct because of our unnatural system.
We need to start rethinking about our life styles and the system, and about the precious time and planet we are wasting and destroying with our sad, pathetic and unsatisfied lives.

Algorithium is the psychedelic trance project of 25 year old Dave Zappia. After greatly enjoying the Sydney psytrance scene since 2011, the need to compose and contribute his own flavour of dark, emotional and psychedelic sounds became too great to ignore and so experimentation began in 2016.

Algorithium has particpated in multiple V.A.'s from some of the best night/dark psychedelic labels in the world such as Deviant Force Records, Sonic Loom Music, Goanmantra Records & Katayy Records, Dave is still trying to perfect and develop his own sound which has healthy influences from the Greek psychedelic style. 

Dave's sound fuses elements of Darkpsy and Forest, normally but not limited to the 150 to 160 bpm range. The sound is eerie, visceral and deep with heavy drive whilst retaining dynamic atmospheres. The aim is to compose psytrance that directs the listener and progresses in intensity throughout a track. His synthesis of bass, percussion and leads aims to harmonise, meld and morph synergistically conveying a deep sonic message that language cannot.
