Some points discussed during this Khutbah:

⁃ Benefits from the āyāt:

۞ وَسَارِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَغْفِرَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
۞ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ فِى ٱلسَّرَّآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ وَٱلْكَـٰظِمِينَ ٱلْغَيْظَ وَٱلْعَافِينَ عَنِ ٱلنَّاسِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
۞وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُوا۟ فَـٰحِشَةً أَوْ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ ذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَٱسْتَغْفَرُوا۟ لِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَمَن يَغْفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَلَمْ يُصِرُّوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلُوا۟ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ

{And march forth in the way (which leads to) forgiveness from your Lord, and for Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for al-Muttaqūn (the pious). Those who spend [in Allāh's Cause - deeds of charity, alms, etc.] in prosperity and in adversity, who repress anger, and who pardon men; verily, Allāh loves al-Muḥsinūn (the good-doers). And those who, when they have committed Faḥishah (illegal sexual intercourse etc.) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allāh and ask forgiveness for their sins; - and none can forgive sins but Allāh - And do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know.} [Sūrah Āli ‘Imrān 3: 133-135]

⁃ Hastening and competing to carry out actions that necessitate the Mercy of Allāh.
⁃ Characteristics of the Muttaqīn:
1. Generosity.
2. Repression of their anger.
3. Pardoning the people.
4. When they fall into fāḥishah or wrong themselves they remember Allāh.
5. They refrain from the sin and are remorseful.
⁃ The two categories of Iḥsān.
⁃ The meaning of fuḥsh, and the difference between fāḥishah and wronging oneself.
⁃ The two meanings of “while they know”
⁃ The reward for those who possess these five attributes.

Five Qualities That Gain Paradise & Allahs Mercy By Abu Idrees 04022022

Enter into Islam Wholeheartedly — Abū Ukkāshah ‘Abdul Hakeem

• O you who believe! Enter perfectly in Islam and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan. Verily! He is to you a plain enemy. [Sūrah al-Baqarah, 208]

— Imām as-Si’dī about entering Islām fully and not obeying lowly desires. 

• All the Prophets and Messengers called to the worship of Allaah and staying away from worshipping besides Him.

 
• O you who believe! Answer Allah and (His) Messenger when he calls you to that which will give you life [Sūrah al-Anfāl, 24]

— Benefits mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim about this ayah. 

• Shaykh al-Fawzān on the musāra’ah, constant war, between a person and Shaytaan; ends only when the both feet of a person in Paradise.

• Truly, the religion with Allah is Islam. Sūrah āl-Imrān, 19]

— Benefits mentioned by Ibn Kathīr about this ayah. 

• The two types of Ummah — ar-Risaalah and al-Ijaabah.

• The story of the Jewish boy on his  deathbed and tears of the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم.

• Ibn al-Qayyim on the 4 Pillars of disbelief — Kibr, Ghibtah, Ghadab and Shahwah. 

• Ibrāhīm and Ya’qūb عليهما السلام advising their children to enter the religion wholeheartedly. 

• When Ibrāhīm was commanded to sacrifice his son Ismā’īl عليهما السلام. Details of the submission of Ibrāhīm compared to the much lesser submission we have to make.

• How quick the Companions were to submit; response of ‘Umar رضي الله عنه when the verse was revealed to abandon intoxicants.

• Intoxicants and the 10 cursed regarding them. Gambling and it’s dangers.

• Ā’ishah رضي الله عنها about how the Muhājirāt responded when the āyāt about Khimār/Hijāb were revealed.

Advices on how to enter Islām wholeheartedly:

• Being humble upon the truth when it comes to you. 

• If sincere advice comes from a person who is not sincere, then accept it. Example of Bilqīs, the queen of Sheeba. And Mūsā and Hārūn عليهما السلام and sorcerers.

• Having certainty in resurrection, accountability and reward. Example of man in Sūrah Kahf who did not believe his garden would perish or that the Hour would be established.

• Not to constantly look to this worldly life, nor to be amazed by it. Brief enjoyments of this world and what they consist of. 

• To fear the misguidance after guidance. Du’ā of Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم when he would leave his home.

• To fear an evil end. What leads to an evil end, mentioned by Ibn Rajab.

• To understand the blessing of this religion. Narration of ‘Umar رضي الله عنه that Allaah ennobled us through Islaam. 

— Narration of Ibn al-Mubārak that dying upon the Sunnah is a miracle - and how this applies more in this time.

• To be different, distinct and oppose the Mushrikeen and open sinners who will be fuel for the hell fire. Narration about Muslims following the Jews and Christians.

• To turn to the Book of Allaah and stay away from the Quraan of the Shaytaan. Ibn al-Qayyim on the specific effects of music, how it cannot combine in a single heart with love of the Book of Allaah and how it is comparable to intoxicants.

• To never stop the fight with Shaytaan. Do not say “eventually” you will do good deeds because that day may not come. Ibn al-Qayyim on how if Shaytaan is able to misguide a person when they are at their strongest in terms of senses and faculties, so what about at point of death?

• To return back to our lord like a slave running back to obedience of his master, and not be the captive of our desires. 

• To make our tongue moist with the remembrance of Allaah and the limbs active in the obedience of Allaah.

This book is based on a beautiful poem by the esteemed scholar of Tafsīr, Sheikh ‘Abdulraḥmān b. Nāsir al-Sadī (raḥimahullah). The context of the poem is concerning the Hereafter and the characteristics of the believers yearning for it. This poem highlights the believers’ preparation to achieve happiness in this life and the Hereafter. They are the most content people since they are living a life to please Allāh which is their goal. "O You Who believe, if you fear Allah, Allah will give you a criterion." Anfal 8:29


This verse deals with a few issues. The first is taqwa - an advice which has been given to those before us and in our time.
The definition of taqwa as mentioned by Talq ibn Habib is that you:

- Act in obedience to Him
- Comply with His legislation with ‘ilm hoping for the mercy of Allah
- Leave disobedience to Allah with a light from Allah (‘ilm) based upon that which you have learnt from the legislation, fearing his punishment.

Another explanation of the meaning of taqwa taken from Abu Hurairah is when he asked a person “Have you ever taken a path where there are dangerous obstacles?” and he explained “I would avoid and be cautious it in order not to be harmed by those obstacles and this is taqwa.”

Allah has said that He is not going to leave you just to believe until he distinguishes between those that are impure and those that are pure. He is the One who created life and death to see who is best in good deeds. The one who is from the muttaqoon walks with precaution. You walk carefully for the short time that we are here, be in this world as if you are a stranger. We should be cautious as it relates to taqwa.


As for taqwa in the Quran the command of having taqwa is often attributed to the name of Allah ,for example, in the verse which tells us to fear Allah, The One who you be gathered and the statement “Oh you who believe fear Allah and say a statement that is correct and your actions will be correct.

When Allah mentions His name then taqwa or His Punishment. It means have this cautiousness, fearing His Anger when Allah says to fear Him. If you fear Allah then avoid his anger with ‘ilm. When He mentions taqwa then his punishment, for example in these following verses:

“And Fear the Hellfire that has been prepared for the disbelievers” Aali Imraan 3:131

“And fear fire, the one whose fuel is men and stones that has been prepared for the disbelievers” Baqarah 2:24

“And fear that day that you will return to Allah” Baqarah 2:281


In the statement “Oh you who believe have taqwa” the benefits of having taqwa are that:

- Your actions are accepted.
- Allah does not accept from those who have no taqwa, as it says in The Quran: "Verily, Allah accepts only from those who are Al-Muttaqun” Maidah 5:27
- Allah is with those who have taqwa

In a tafsir of the Quran it is mentioned that this means that He will give you an exit from bidah. If you have taqwa you will not fall into bidah, and those are the people from Ahlus-Sunnah. If you have taqwa he will make you free and distance you from shubhat and misconceptions, and if you have them, you are weak in your taqwa. You are weak in your taqwa if you have doubts about Salafiyyah, fear Allah. There is fitnah everyday, this is from the sunnah. In the hadith of Abdullah ibn Zubair it says that there does not come a time except the one which comes after it worse, and it will get worse. You need this light from Allah (seeking knowledge the Quran and the Sunnah). Abdullah ibn masood said:

"knowledge is not just talking, it is that light which Allah puts in the heart."
