Some people identify as men, some as women…and some as neither. Low Maim discusses the social construct of the gender binary and their personal experiences with living as a non-binary person.

DISCLAIMER: Gender is a complex issue, and there are multiple ways that it can be constructed, eg through chromosomes, sexual characteristics, presentation, personal identity and more. In this piece, Low Maim discusses mainly their presentation and role of gender in society, as well as their personal experiences with gender issues and physicality. While Low's body type influenced the way they think about gender from an early age, it should be noted that the way a person's body is shaped is not necessarily a predictor, or even an influencer, of a person's gender.

I'm an independent audio producer, writer and editor.
