Alexander James Healey might be one of the most prolific young artists you’ve never heard of. Boasting a huge catalogue of songwriting and production credits for the likes of Tiesto, Steve Aoki, Sigala, Rezz, Frank Walker, Delany Jane, Shaun Frank, Olivia Lunny and Flo Rida to name just a few, the über-talented hit-maker has a penchant for creating chart-topping records like they’re going out of fashion. Now, as he looks to carve out a path as an original artist in his own right, Healey introduces us to his brand new Lo-Fi house alias, Exclap, with his debut single All I Want Is You. A truly unique and characterful three-minute cut, brimming with warped synthesizers, lethargic beats and expertly manipulated vocoders, All I Want Is You is one of the most intriguing and original tracks we’ve heard in a while and screams of a seasoned producer at the very top of his game. If this first record is anything to go by, you’ll be hearing a lot more of Exclap over the months and years to come.

We’ve been keeping a very close eye on https://soundcloud.com/dray_music ever since the success of his early label offering surrender and Take It Back back in 2020. Following a wealth of subsequent releases on the likes of Spinnin’, Enormous Tunes, Perfect Havoc, and No Definition, the in-demand Berlin-based producer now returns to Selected for his first original single of 2021, Remember. Setting the tone with an infectious, soulful vocal hook, Remember radiates feel-good, piano house vibes from the off, as Dray showcases his innate penchant for masterful melodies and undeniably catchy creations. Brimming with ravey piano stabs, shuffling percussion and uplifting chord progressions across its duration, this latest cut will transport the listener to a sun-soaked dancefloor and have them hooked on its undeniable, larger-than-life energy.

A Change Of Heart

The weirdo underground live-house duo that is SHOUSE often invite local singers and musicians to collaborate when bunkered down in their Collingwood studio. New release “Love Tonight” is an amalgamation of this working environment, whilst being a cheeky parody and adorable homage to the classic ’80’s celebrity extravaganza that was Bandaid “We Are The World”. Assembling a choir of all the people that they have loved and admired in their local scene (Oscar Key Sung, Monte Morgan (Client Liaison), Bec from The Harpoons, HABITS, Pillow Pro and so many more!), Ed and Jack have delivered the type of number that champions unity and a shared sense of eternal wonder for the future! 

For remixes we have Mike Simonetti (Horse Meat Disco) delivering a dark acid heavy late night techno jam, DJ Seinfeld who eschews the hook altogether for a fun lo-fi belter, and Australian newcomers The Nights with a lusciously pulsating melodic mover. Theres also an exceptional Acapella mix with plenty of dance saxophone!

The warmth delivered on this song is arguably tangible! Showing a shared sense of compassion and a display of strength.
