Parasex is an Estonian-Italian duo based in Estonia. Angelica and Riccardo Alescio - a spicy mix of a Sicilian hot boy and an east cold 90s kid girl. Angelica Alescio, in art Angè, was a rocker from early childhood. After discovering electronic music from a young age, she was eventually drawn to dark disco tobacco-stained synths, provocative vocals, erotic Italian grooves, acid notes, and anything with powerful energy. She is the Co-founder of the Dark Disko event series in Estonia, a DJ for over a decade, and a producer as of late. Angelica meets Riccardo Alescio in 2022 and they found the Parasex group a year later. At the beginning, before the birth of the Parasex duo, Riccardo collaborated with Angelica by writing the lyrics and singing for some of her tracks. Riccardo Alescio is a Sicilian visual artist and producer who shares with her a passion for rock music, electronic music, and underground culture. With the birth of the Parasex project, they combine their qualities in musical production and performing on stage, discovering new creative possibilities by fusing their musical tastes and cultural backgrounds. Together they have shared the stage with artists like Alan Dixon, Séxstasy, Djedjotronic, Kendal, Pablo Bozzi, Curses, Nunzio Borino, Massimiliano Magliara, Fabrizio Mammarella, Franz Scala, Fantastic Man, Jennifer Cardini, and many more talented artists from over the globe. We have a podcast on the radio like Rinse FM (Ritmo Fatale and Curses podcasts), Disco Suicide, IDA radio Helsinki, Crave Tapes, Dark Disco, Fresh FM, Indie Dance the mix series, Operator radio, and H.Õ.R. In the Beginning There Was Techno – by Tornadotoni

This set was recorded for the Techno-Sekretariat — episode #10 on YouTube — with Techno as the main theme.
It reflects my own definition of Techno — the way I experienced it in the early ’90s.

Back then, Techno could be very fast, and also warm, emotional, and full of depth.
I remember it as something that carried energy and soul at the same time — an umbrella for many electronic styles that were just emerging and constantly evolving.

In the early ’90s, there were usually three floors: a Techno floor, a House floor, and a Chill-out room with Ambient DJs.
On the Techno floor, you’d hear everything — Progressive House, Acid, Trance, Breakbeat, Detroit Techno and many more — all mixed together. It wasn’t about the big drop yet; it was a journey, one where you never knew exactly where you’d end up.

That sense of exploration still fascinates me today. I love sets that take you by the hand and lead you somewhere unexpected — and that’s what I try to keep alive in my own way.

I get bored with sets that feel predictable — like films where you already know the ending. That’s why this mix includes moments that surprise, wake you up, or take you somewhere different. That’s my signature: I play eclectically, following emotion rather than formula.

For me, Techno is something that shaped my life — it took me around the world, connected me with a community, and gave me that unique sense of freedom. Without Techno, I probably wouldn’t even live in Berlin.

So yes — in the beginning there was Techno. At least for me.

DJ Alice D. is a product of Basel's 90ies Techno Culture and it's psychedelic movement. Basel, the city with the mystical touch alongside the rhine river, with outskirts reaching into 3 countries has always been home to a wide variety of cultural and artistic expressions to find inspiration in. She started playing records at the age of 15, after many years of musical education inspired by her grandfather, a passionate musician, and because she fell in love with electronic music and especially progressive Trance music. From 2003-2010 she played more and more gigs, from progressive house to minimal/electro, techhouse/techno and back. She got more and more offers to play abroad. She had to realize that her life didn't allow for so much travelling and creative work at that time. With a very heavy heart she decided not to go for art by halves.
After a 10 years break from active DJing to focus on her biggest love, her son, she's now back at the turntables. Meanwhile she finished a 4 years yoga teacher training with IYP Waldkirch DE and was exploring ways to incorporate the yogic teachings into the artwork she does. This is why she now considers playing live more like a yoga lesson rather than an actual appearance.
In 2023 she started to curate her own parties and festivals again to finally give her hometown the credit it deserves and she's always dreamed of.
