even if someone you loved erases you, says your story or your little ones' story is no longer compatible with reality... truth is--the blessed days remain, alive & pulsating still. Made us who we are. We are not erased. History, growing up, the play, loving, learning, raising, all those days, not erased. To celebrate the passage of time, even if in the moving on-- is a sacred reflection and honoring of otherness. Never erase another. Never ever say it didn't happen or teach your children to compartmentalize their days, their ways, their childhood, their families. This story almost sunk me. Perhaps N and L will read this some day. I don't know. But I hope they feel the lightness and relief one day of knowing- there are no secrets to keep, No heaviness needed anymore. No unspoken loyalties. They were born and raised in love and peace. They can think and ask of all these things, the aftermath and anything in between and then sync sync sync it all together. Heal. Heal. Heal. My sons. Thank you Maya Angelou for your example of how to grow into the flow of courage, the essence of being, and becoming- strong, salty, sultry, serene, serenaded by syncopated inner places, rather than falling apart at the seams; still, I rise. In the singing of these words, an act of hope & forward motion rather than accepting defeat & silently dying inside-- no siree...this----  Still I Rise.

i think about a decade ago. When songs, health, hope, still strong. Even in survival mode. I still move fast when need be, to take care of sweet peeps and life things. But have a strange premonition on the decline. Yielding now little more than what's in front of me. Void of creativity. And that's ok. Nice to find the voice in this song. When daily music was like bread and water. Now voice is tired of saying. things. Little yields little. and that's ok. So thankful for how the hope was captured here long ago.  Peace if anyone hears, though that's not the point. Hopefully precious sons, you'll know your ma through songs more than what lack of life lived you saw. xoxo. -alison

Oh the incomparable Emmylou Harris. Since before I can remember, I have been moved by and loved her artistry, voice, storytelling, and harmonies.  She taught me to sing... Almost every Fuller road trip taken in childhood included hours of listening to the likes of Emmylou and Simon & Garfunkel.  So grateful to have met these heavenly sounds so young.  This little ditty done at home without the ins and outs of studio quality sound (forgive the attempt and novice take) is a cover that includes my heart, memories, and thanks to Emmylou (and Happy the pup in the background, collar sound and all) ... from one of my favorite albums of all time- Wrecking Ball. 1995
