For this week's installment of @DarkScienceElectro we turn to Sweden, where we will be checking in with a long-time friend of the show Maschine Brennt (@thenander) 

55-year-old Joacim Thenander started producing music in the early 80s after the acquisition of a Yamaha CX-5m (the first computer to have a MIDI port built-in) and some hardware like the Korg MS20. He was a mainstay at local parties due to his large record collection and technical knowledge, having worked in a music instrument store. Though he hasn't performed as a DJ since 1994, he has stayed active as a digital DJ and amazing music producer. His wheelhouse for production resides in Electro, Industrial, EBM, and other electronic-heavy genres. In 2014 he teamed up with the artist @the-kretz and began releasing music on @plonk-label. He has since released 4 albums as Maschine Brennt on KinetiK, Plonk, and Microlab Studio, not to mention his more than 10 side-projects having various releases.

Dutch techno representative Steve Rachmad mixed up his 10 favorite Kenny Larkin classics for a special occasion. In 2015 Rush Hour is repressing the label's Kenny Larkin catalogue. 

Rush Hour co-operated with Kenny Larkin/Art Of Dance in '05/'06, and released a collection of highlights from Kenny Larkin's 1991 to 1997 period, including the stand out tracks Azimuth and Metaphor for instance.

These 12's have been out of print for years and will be available again!

Since their start, both artists have had great influence on the techno genre and in their careers their paths crossed several times. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Steve Rachmad has been integral to the development of the scene in his native Netherlands. Detroit's Kenny Larkin began producing in the early nineties, influenced by Juan Atkins and Derrick May, as well as the Chicago house music scene and has produced many techno classics.

Moving Pressure marks its fifth release, and the first one to stretch across a double vinyl with full sleeve artwork. It isn’t framed as an album, yet its sequencing carries a narrative weight that lingers between immediacy and introspection.

MP05 welcomes on board Australian producer Connor Wall, whose work fuses tightly wound rhythm and immersive atmosphere, balancing precision with a sense of openness. His sound is rooted in the physical pull of the dancefloor, yet drawn toward zones of suspension and elusion. And Moving Pressure 05 captures that duality very clearly. Momentum sets the tone from the outset – taut drum programming, metallic accents, and structures that build energy in decisive bursts. There’s a sense of propulsion that feels engineered for peak hours, exuding a tightening grip on the floor. Gradually, tension loosens up, stretching patterns into spirals, layering vaporous pads and resonant low-end that opens a more interior space.

Together, the two arcs trace Wall’s range with clarity: body and mind, force and dissolve. Rather than presenting opposites, they reveal different angles of the same language. An exploration of density, atmosphere, and the subtle thresholds between the two.
