AFTERHOUR SOUNDS COMPILATION IV

Today we are happy to present you our latest Afterhour Sounds compilation. After almost a year it was about time to publish a new, in-house release. Our goal with each compilation is to share our understanding of an afterhour with you. 

As far back as we can remember an afterhour has always been something very special. An episode of rest and yet also of departure. Always individually different and yet somehow categorically the same. This is exactly the spirit we try to musically depict with each of our compilations. 

Finally, this time we have also included exciting downtempo, midtempo and uptempo tracks. Each track is completely different in terms of mood and energy, but due to their atmosphere and playfulness, they fit perfectly into every (afterhour) playlist. Surely there is something for each of you. 

Our newest compilation is as usual a "Free Download" with voluntary donation. For this you can use the Bandcamp link below and decide for yourself what the project is worth to you. A donation via the Paypal link bellow is also possible. This time, we have decided to support the aid project "Blind-Spots" with the proceeds, which we consider among many currently still worthy of support. Therefore we would be happy if you, as far as possible, would leave a small contribution for our project. 

We would especially like to thank the following artists for their great productions and patience: Deep Ändi, Manski, Padouc, Tommy Hanso, Bock & Fuchs, Ryan Haeng and HVDN. Since 2017 Beat & Path have been hollowing out a niche for their particular style of vaudevillian house music. This sixth anniversary release centres the figures who've been with the label since the start – founding members Uone and Out of Sorts (Hayden and Barton Strom), as well as festival staple and label stalwart Caly Jandro. Where its predecessor was a wide-ranging affair perfect for kick-ons, "Camp Out 002" zooms in on the quintessential Beat & Path sound: thick, restrained basslines; low-tempo percussion outmatching the energy of much faster tracks; cheeky samples from unlikely sources; and that perennial cosmic wink that permeates the back catalogue. To quote Oscar Wilde, "Life is far too important a thing ever to talk seriously about."

The penultimate track is a fascinating Uone rework of one of the label's early anthems, a real furnace of a track from Out of Sorts, slowed and mystified through a focus on the original's pitched percussion. It's reminiscent of that Global Underground classic, Phonique's "99 & a Half" (I:Cube Remix), but with much-updated production and a chunkier groove that somehow amps up the sinister vibes.

None of us has ever understood what the Old Man of the Moon meant when he said it was borrowed.” Minli watched, fascinated, as the king took from the gold pouch a delicate, folded piece of paper. Paler than even the white jade tofu she had eaten for dinner, the paper seemed to have a light of its own, dimming the gold threads of the pouch that held it. “It was my great-great grandfather,” the king said, unfolding the paper, “who realized that the words on it can only be seen in the bright moonlight. He renamed the city the City of Bright Moonlight as a reminder for the kings that followed him.” Nüur brings the treasures of Earth and the sunset serenades. This is their fourth offering for Shango Records, These three tracks can take you to the Garden of Earthly Delights. Alex Galvan and Umannto love the sunset and magic serenades.

It seemed impossible that he would give her such a cherished treasure. “It was only after much study that my great-great-grandfather was able to decipher the words,” the king said. “And that is when he realized that the words changed according to the situation at the time. From then on, whenever a King of the City of Bright Moonlight has had a problem, he consults the paper.” “And it tells you what to do?” Minli asked. Maxia is a night rebel. This is his first offering for Shango Records. These two tracks can change your perception about the Moon and the stars and the dark skies.
