Last Life

We close the month of October in true warrior fashion; the Cagliari resident is the type of artist that will send you down into the pits of halftime, experimental & DnB, only to see you come out on the other side having adopted the darkness. 

His eyewatering catalogue of music includes releases on labels like Cyclon Recordings, his own LL Series, and of course the iconic Samurai Music. The latter being heavily represented in this episode with tracks from Homemade Weapons & Dailiv, Eusebia, Mako, Sam KDC, Torn & Roho, label-head Presha, and Last Life himself (all with tracks on the forthcoming Hannya II).

G'Day moites!

As the launch of my new record label looms and many things to celebrate in the meantime - including my upcoming gig with the Donny Sub Basics next week for Modern Hypnosis's final dance for a while!

I have been a busy boy the last few months, after the success of the first one - I decided to record Pugcast Vol 2 with 21 brand spanking new tracks, made over the last few months, there is one vinyl only release track and an older ambient joint I made 5 years ago to pad the mix out but it's mostly brand new weaponry. Mostly solo productions, some remixes and some collaborations.

The mix is rough and ready and not overly planned with a few mistakes (I didn't want to overthink it), I am quite happy with how this one came together.

XOHNE - Never Know

Caspian grew up in Riwaka and now calls Ōtautahi, Aotearoa home. His sound moves through halftime, jungle, and minimal drum and bass - heavy, spacious, and built for deep listening as much as the dancefloor.

Starting with self-releases and local Christchurch label drops, he's since had tracks land on international imprints like Armory, Onset Audio, and Danger Chamber Digital. His latest work, the Contort EP on Takaka's Rooster Records, threads murky halftime grooves with atmospheric jungle and fractured breaks.

On stage, Caspian keeps it personal - sets stacked with his own productions, riding between dense halftime rollers, sharp breaks, and jungle that swells with texture. He's played festivals including Twisted Frequency, Rolling Hertz, Into The Vortex, and Oasis, and has shared the stage with artists like Phace and Particle.

My latest creation "Dope" was made using sound design I've been working on, I've tried to implement minimal style synths and stabs but with a heavy-weight roller sub and Reece bass to keep the momentum. I complemented it with some old school vocal samples from the movie Reefer Madness for a bit of fun. Enjoy!
