Kazuki Yamaguchi a.k.a. Kez YM is a a Berlin DJ and producer originally hailing from Japan, he brings true school funk, soul, disco and Detroit beatdown inspirations to his productions. Building an impeccable discography since his debut EP, he has put out original work and remixes on respected labels like Yore, Deep Explorer, Faces, and City Fly. His debut LP 'Cross Section', released on Faces Records in February 2019, shows that he can push his signature sound to uncharted territory.

Apartment Records' Kenny Hanlon is the DJ for this week's featured mix for 5 Mag's RISE series.

Kenny Hanlon is a long term "get" for me personally as I've been a crazy fanboy of both the music on his label and the way he runs it. Hanlon runs @apartment-records which released one of my favorite records of 2022, Being's There, available on digital and cassette via Bandcamp. Come to think of it, Apartment also released one of my favorite records of 2021, NCW on NCW. Their next release (and thus potentially my favorite record next year) will be from New Jackson, coming out in early 2023.

In addition to running Apartment Hanlon is one of the organizers of the Open Ear festival in Sherkin Island, Cork, Ireland.

Hello! A few short weeks ago DJ D.DEE (@derekdee) made his debut on the Boiler Room (@platform) at this years Bass Coast Festival (bass-c0ast).

The session was a great opportunity to air out some forthcoming Pacific Rhythm material  and other interesting audio that's soon to be released on other record labels out there on the Planet E (with some stone cold classics thrown in for good measure). 

Huge love to everybody at the festival who helped with the mobility issues D.DEE is currently experiencing and to all the friends who went the extra mile to make this happen (you know who you are). Big S/O's to @zdbt as well for helping out a few of the edits that made there way into the mix.
