This week’s guest on Ana Fernandes Fade to Sunset is DJ, Producer and founder of Let’s Play House, Jacques Renault. 
Jacques was a post-punk Washington, D.C. native who moved to Chicago in 1997 to continue his studies of viola, but in turn got an education in dance music. Tapping into the well-established drum 'n' bass scene, he held a residency at Smart Bar and became a buyer at the legendary Gramaphone Records. This broad, raw exposure to House lead him straight back to the classics of Disco and its heart, New York City, where he landed in 2002. After nearly a decade of playing for others in NYC, Jacques, along with good friend Nik Mercer founded Let's Play House, a roving house, disco, and techno party as well as an imprint of the same persuasion.
As a DJ, he’s played in some of the most renowned clubs and parties around the globe and with his remixes, edits, original tracks, and collaborative project Runaway, he has released music on internationally acclaimed labels such as DFA Records, RVNG Intl. Rekids, Italians do it better, and many more.

We are happy to introduce our next guest, SIRS who’s balearic influenced productions quickly captured our attention.

He recently moved to Berlin after more than 20 years living in Ibiza / Mallorca. The last 3 winters he spent in Asia ( Bail based and travelled Asia & Australia for gigs ) and had the chance to get introduced to the amazing Asian music. “I like it very much apart from whats is disco, nu disco , italo disco etc. It’s somehow refreshing to my ears as i get lately very bored by today’s music - which doesn’t mean that there is amazing music out there - but its hard to find it often. I usually prefer bandcamp as the digging process ( apart from vinyl purchase ) is very easy there.”

My friend Cocoe at Grand Avenue Records in Phoenix, AZ recently reminded about this mix I did for his show back in... I want to say 2003ish... or in and around that time?! He said he plays it in the record shop all–time. I had no idea. I asked him to rip & send. This is my first time listening to it since I recorded it. I was pleasantly surprised. What do you think?

In this Sunset Lovers episode,  I'm happy to host one real music lover & enthusiast with an exceptional music taste, Lithuanian digger & selector, radio host, dj, party starter, and label owner from Vilnius.
 
He has been involved with different radio shows and podcasts for about 5 years now and his latest brain child is titled Where Were We? The show is running for a third year now and it hosted almost 80 guests who share the same passion for quality balearic/italo/disco/house grooves. Amongst the guests where the likes of Eddie C, Joe Morris, Coyote, Lexx, Das Komplex, Fabrizio Mammarella, Franz Scala, Bottin, Sorcerer, The Beat Broker and many more. 
This summer Where Were We? also turned into a record label and the first release was crafted by midnattssoula's pal and local talent, resident at Opium Club - Lowe Aka User. Release also had a remix package and remixes were made by italo masters Daniel Monaco, Donald Dust, Romain FX and another rising star from Vilnius - Black Feeling.
