Improvisation from early on in the pandemic times... i remember that the improvising-songs-in-the-afternoon helped a lot with the feelings of ... bright confusion... that total lack of clarity as to what was actually happening but the desire to protect the vulnerable being a definite... also it was the first time since my son was born that I had really found time (just taking 20 or 30 minutes out to do something creative) to sing and play my guitar, so there was an intensity to it all... some sort of release... this is a release release...

LOUD TALKING AT THE END (I can't 'do' musical notes and strings and such so I have my own... shorthand) This is in the style of early Smog I think... unintentional to begin with and then I was like 'hang on, this sounds like early Smog i think...' --- its about living with M.E and its fabulously debilitating symptoms... I have a few different diagnoses but I choose M.E as it seems the most accurate... you feel unseen, invisible... abandoned... and when you try to speak of your immobility, your loss, your grief, many many people turn away or look over your head or bow their head and drive away really fast in the sportscars of their ambition and fear-of-the-different, inability to stand in their own pain let alone someone elses... so yeah, it covers that kinda thing ... woooooohoooohaaaaargh! Love xxx

'Belong'

A piece made in reaction to a reaction... I had an intense experience of Ableism and felt anger flash, and simultaneously self-doubt and shame struck as I wondered, 'is this an appropriate feeling, are these thoughts acceptable; sensible?'... it's a very personal piece, almost confrontational really,  but I'm sure it will ring true for many people who have experienced being peripheral in/from society ... being on the edge gives you a wide and far view... we must maintain compassion, curiosity, consideration, and conversation- and we must stand in the pain and look around... with love & respect x

An improvisation considering the inner mirror of self brought about by unresolved trauma and the process of reaching out and into the self as we heal ourselves... self... selfses... it's never too late to learn to love yourself, and the reason it's difficult IS because you are learning something you were supposed acquire naturally and easily when you were a small creature, new and beloved to the world... that is what you are meant to reflect... to dismiss it as being 'too hard' or 'not your sort of thing' is brutally dangerous... it has very far reaching consequences, especially if you are a parent...
