'Girlfriend' is an electronic pop song that depicts the darker side to relationships when it calls into question the behaviours of certain people involved in them. It slowly builds up, starting with a moody ambience and ending with an energetic outro.

Girlfriend

Bristol-based singer/songwriter Alison Dell spent her childhood in the small town of Berwick-upon-Tweed in the North East of England. Born into a music-loving family, she grew up listening to artists such as Kate Rusby, Scott Walker, Imogen Heap and Kate Bush. Subjects such as agonising boy problems, parties and getting drunk inspired her early songwriting as a teen. Fast-forward a few years and after moving to Bristol and meeting producer Tim Hewitt at a house party, her music developed into electronic pop mixed with catchy hooks yet emotive lyrics.  They take inspiration from artists such as Banks, Mura Masa, Sigrid, Disclosure and Ellie Goulding.
