Last year in august, at the other end of Germany, I had the pleasure of meeting someone I had heard a lot about. I fondly remember how he rolled down the car window, and I hopped in, kicking off our journey together. 🙋🏽‍♀️ Hello, Thomas stieler!

As a resident at Leipzig's Distillery, part of Muna, one of the longest-standing clubs in Germany, and a member of the Paracou Crew associated with Mathias Kaden, he embraces every genre within the realm of house music. His passion and dedication shine through in every groove, making him a beloved figure in the dance music community. 🪩🪩🪩

Meeting someone as grounded and true to himself as Thomas gave me a completely new perspective regarding the scene. I'm very thankful that our paths crossed. Please welcome this down-to-earth DJ, cat lover and my virgo brother, Thomas Stieler!

Recorded at Garbicz 2016 on Saturday night at Wiesefloor.
A story to tell: I was really excited and thankful about this opportunity to play  a big floor at the festival, so slowly bought vinyls for this special occasion.  
When the time came,  got to the stage 40 min before my set time, went to the dj booth to leave my stuff while Wareika was playing live same floor, live stage. Looked around but no turntables connected or on sight. Looked for the stage manager and found him... tripping balls wearing a bear hat and unable to help. Whaaaat? 
Luckily other  helpful staff raised to the challenge and plates came 10 minutes before I started. Meanwhile Wareika is playing a great set , 3000 people dancing and enjoying to the max
band finished and then  my turn to play. Took a deep breathe and started with the first record. Huge towers of speakers next to me, dj booth vibrating because the powerful soundsystem and I could feel something was coming. After 3 or 4 of records were played, suddenly the needle skipped in the middle of the track all the way thorough the record. White noise comes in, on this soundsystem with a full dancefloor!  Time stopped.
Out of nowhere  my left hand adjusted  levels, made a rhythm with the fader while  my other hand was scrolling through my USB plan B with a mind of its own. Found a track and pressed play... people went bonkers! 
The rest of the set went rapidly, digital and unplanned. 
At the end, the crowd let me know it was a good set. 
Oh my, that was fun.

Ida Daugaard(@ida-daugaard)(Berlin, Germany) is the next artist of the Podcast Series by 118 BPM Rules. Well known dj from the north of Denmark, that has played at festivals and clubs all over the world. Africa Burn festival (Cape Town), Moulin Rouge (Paris), Proposition (New York), Odd (Milan), Lightbox (London), Mainstage at the Mysteryland (Amsterdam), Decibel (San Juan, Puerto Rico)or Cosmique Room (Istanbul)between many others. 118 BPM Rules has talked with her:

118 BPM Rules: What are your origins, where your artistic career started? And the most important ¿When did you noticed that music was more than a passion for you and that you wanted to dedicate yourself entirely to this profession?

Ida Daugaard:
I'm from a little city in Denmark called Aarhus. In Aarhus I went to my first warehouse rave in 2005. Walking through the door I fell in love with electronic music and everything around it. And yea, ever since that day I have always had a profound love for the twisted dark dancefloor.

I bought myself Pioneer 800 Cdj players and played for fun at home. I recorded some Mixtapes, and soon after the clubs started to contact me for gigs. I never made a plan to become a full time Dj, it's something that have just happened naturally over the last 7-8 years. 

118 BPM Rules: Talk us, about your sound as producer and dj.

Ida Daugaard:
My sound is trippy, groovy & minimal. And I love to play it slow. 

118 BPM Rules: Producer or DJ, ¿What you most like?

Ida Daugaard:
I have only been producing for 1 year, so i'm still learning. 

118 BPM Rules: What are your influences?

Ida Daugaard:
In my late teenage years I was very inspired by old rock like Joy Division, The Smiths, The Cure, Patti Smith, Kraftwerk & 80's synth pop like Depech Mode as well as late 90's names like underworld. Today i'm getting a lot of inspiration from romanian artist like Raresh, Praslea, Radu Mirica, Rhadoo & Barac. And listening to other Dj's play. The last mind-blowing set's I heard was from Christofer Henn & Cem Orlow, very inspiring! 

118 BPM Rules: Speaking of others upcoming projects, how it looks? What other interesting projects can you share with us?

Ida Daugaard:
I'm very excited to go to Zurich this Friday to play for Kasheme, that is an amazing online video stream channel. Here I will be playing a very chilled slow and experimental set for a crowd sitting down. It will be a very different experience :)

My days never look the same, this is what I really love about working with music.

118 BPM Rules: Which is the city that you enjoy the most in the world, and why?

Ida Daugaard:
I have decide to live in Berlin, I love this city. It's full of art & good music.
