JFK - ExcerptFromRadio 5 - 25 - 2015 (Beggining of side A)

Here is a short excerpt from a project using a John Fitzgerald Kennedy Memorial Album from 1963. The record has been carved into at various points and lengths to create rhythmic patterns with the turntable's 33 1/3 rpm.

This excerpt is from the record being played on Eva Martinez's show on the saicfreeradio, Memorial Day 05/25/2015. 

I'll probably be working on some more projects with this technique. Playback is the record's own unique performance, every time. The weight of the stylus and other conditions of the setup provide some nice extra-analog cooperation.

I wish there was a way to share the object instead. Anyhow, Hope you enjoy.

While another eclectic album sits waiting to find a record label to call home here is a collection of things I've been messing about with and experimenting on at my studio in the Kinningpark Complex, Glasgow over the past year and a half.

It's a mix of musical ideas, playing around with the double bass, drum machines, found sound, percussion and drones/ambient sound.

CETACEA by Alex South and Katherine Wren

Siku, meaning "Sea-Ice" in Greenlandic, was written in collaboration with William Harcourt, a PhD student of glaciology at The University of St. Andrew's. 
The ice sheets are vital and act as a protective shield over the earth, reflecting excess heat into space and keeping the planet cool. The melting (calving) of these glaciers is accelerating due to global warming and is contributing to the alarming rise of sea levels worldwide.
William collected a vast range of field recordings from various scientists studying glaciers worldwide. The piece takes influence from the vast array of different sounds captured by the scientists studying the glaciers and the surrounding derelict landscapes.
