This describes an un-forgetful night in Detroit, Michigan many years ago when I was at death's door. It is part of the introduction of the book entitled "I'm Free" which tells the story of crime, prison, drug addiction, gun-slinging and redemption. The book is available on Amazon.

Mid November 1972

While serving a prison sentence of life plus 60 years, Sheldon Gooch had an encounter with Jesus Christ that radically transformed his life. A few years later with very little hope of a release, Sheldon accomplished many things including education and mentoring scores of other prisoners. He was allowed to record an LP that was distributed globally. It included the title cut I'm Free which he wrote two days after his miraculous conversion. Six months after this interview with Journalist Ken Anderson, Sheldon was granted an early release from prison. He has traveled throughout the country spreading the Good News that Jesus lives and sets people free, in and out of prison.
