»Signs« is a release from Vienna-native and Hamburg-based producer / visual artist Alith Berndarn, coming out on the 10th of July. The record is also the second release from the »Lucid Scent«-EP.

As inspirations, he made use of »One Dance«, a record by Drake and »I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)« by Jamie XX.

»Signs« is genre-wise somewhere between Electronic and Future Pop. The tune starts with a soothing lo-fi-esque pad sound, which is engulfed by the artist’s signature sounds: the chirping birds. The beginning is about the conveyance of a soothing moment that is immediately impeded through soulesque vocals. The track continues its’ dynamic build-up, with rhythmic intonations that are following the trace of the 90’s style rnb’ish vocals, the racy bass line, and the euphonious chord progression. While the drop sets in, the shivering voices do engulf the listener’s surroundings, accompanied by the circumventing drums and percussions. The track’s intensity is getting more from second to second. This can be heard especially in the section from 1:52 min to 2:29 min.

The notion behind »Signs«: 

"….Signs is about recalling the good old memories from your family vacation days. It is about the sheer thought of nostalgia when you’re coming up old family pictures from your summer vacation days. Born in the ‘90s, we were always recording the utmost majority of our summer holidays with a good old Sony video camera. During these days, we also stumbled over old recordings from my mum from the 60s to the 80s or old tape records she had around from the US in the 80s. The beginning of the video illustrates the feeling of every vacation start. We mostly traveled by car throughout the days. The mid-part is dedicated to the vintage recordings of summer vacation ads from the US. The end portrays the thought to keep the nostalgic moments always in your mind.”

Your Paper Disguise is a four-part story exploring the end of a relationship, from the perspective of someone discovering a cheating lover. 

In the title track, the jilted songwriter explores his journey from accepting what he already knew (‘Finally found a match to light your paper disguise’), before converting that into derisory anger in ‘You, Lady Godiva’ and signing up for more trouble in ‘Sold Myself To The Devil’. Finally, he willingly descends into temporary madness as a coping mechanism in ‘We End Up As A Ghost’.

I get a lot of inspiration from house, garage, dnb and hip hop. I live in Hamburg, moved from Vienna there. This whole project kinda evolved into a serious thing. it's cool. 

i've released a couple of mixtapes, with two hitting over half a million streams, and tracks featured on Byte FM and Radio FM4. artists like Joe Hertz, Rome in Silver, MOTSA and BAYNK have even given nods to my work, which still kind of blows my mind.

I have lots of plans for 2025,  already released my singles and EPs I Hear (Dawn), Be (Alone) ,  Don't You (Wanna), You (Wanna See), with more singles to come out soooon.
