Description: The 9:00 pm hour is full of potential; it can be a time where you are winding down, sinking into something alone or with someone, or turning up. These tracks will have you winding through disparate moods, taking you through some sharp turns, perhaps inspiring a different path for your evening.

Each year, 24 people from around the world are assigned a time of day and tasked with creating a mix or playlist that corresponds to their designated hour. Together, we collectively create a full 24 hours of music designed to provide a soundtrack for an entire day—start to finish.

“A very special thanks to the Honcho crew for this year’s Campout and for letting me share this set. This was the 4th Honcho Campout I attended and I can’t count the number of times a DJ or artist has made me lose it in the best way at Hemlock Hole. So getting a chance to play a daytime set there was really exciting but daunting. I played this set on day 314 of the genocide in Palestine. As a Palestinian in this current moment, trying to find a voice or create moods in music has felt beyond heavy. Is this a time for moments of joy? For dancing? What does it look like to participate in a dance floor when the world in this moment seems utterly unjust? 

I honestly wasn’t quite sure how to tackle this set. So after a lot of overthinking, I stepped back and poured over nearly all of my records over the course of 5 months. I picked ones that have kept me going this past year, many of which I had never played out before. These records, I hope, highlight the beauty of dance music, the resistance heard in the especially black, brown and queer artists who shape this music, and the importance of participating in a space that feels urgent and irrevocable to the queer community. As I played this set, I wore the words of Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, who reminds us: “And we love life if we find a way to it. We dance between the martyrs and raise a minaret for violet and palm trees.” Free Palestine.”

Three hours of high drama, recorded live at Nowadays in New York.

We know what you're thinking: why did it take so long to get Binh on the RA Podcast? There's no easy answer, especially given that he's been a favourite of ours for over a decade now. So to make up for lost time, the revered digger lands on the series with a tantalising three-hour mix, recorded live at Nowadays in New York earlier this year.

Crammed with rare and unreleased gems spanning house, techno, and electro, RA.989 is heavy on drama, catching the Düsseldorf native in unbridled performance mode.

This is Binh in 2025. But rewind across the past two decades and you'll find a DJ who excels in pretty much any situation, whether warming up for Zip or Margaret Dygas, going back-to-back with masters like Nicolas Lutz or rolling out solo sets that stretch across ten or even 12 hours.

He's acted out all these scenarios most often at Berlin institution Club der Visionaere, the cosy canalside club that became a kind-of spiritual home. (He'd sometimes spend every night of the week there, before parenting duties got the better of him.)

To play for half a day you need a lot of records, and the backbone of Binh's craft has long been a freakish passion for vinyl. Along with Lutz, Vera, and others in CDV's orbit, he approaches the pursuit of wax, new and old, with next-level dedication and a fondness for blind buys. 

That's true of RA.989, although among the un-Shazamables are many tracks that are either out or coming out on Binh's popular Time Passages label. The mix finds him on a house-y tip, luxuriating in roomy basslines, driving 303s and twinkly melodies—with just the right amount of evil. Lock in and savour a one-of-a-kind DJ, completely in the zone.

I was recently selected to take part in a project where 24 DJs were chosen to make a mix for a certain hour of the day..In the end all the mixes will be hosted in one place to provide a full day/nights soundtrack.
 I was given 2am to 3am...I figured that I would start off high energy to keep the party going but slowly progress into some weird stuff toward the end..I hope you enjoy this concoction I have made..It was fun to play some things I normally may not play out and also play some of my fav bangers...Shout out to Beau Gaerlan for bringing me in on this.

24 Hours of Music - 2019

00:00-01:00 : Bump and Flow

This mix — my first participation in the 24 hour mix project — represents a passage through darkness.

As a nightowl, ever since I was young, creative energy would strike like lightning in the dark of night. A siren’s song, the call to adventure from a seductive muse — I had no choice but to answer. I would set sail into the night, fueled by inspiration, determined.

During these creative benders, momentum would carry over for 2-3 hours past midnight without hesitation. And then, at some blurred point between 3 and 4, the wind would subside, the sails would empty, and storm clouds would begin to form.

04:00 – 05:00 to me has always been the most challenging hour. As delirium begins to set in, it takes the utmost effort to continue on the original charter. Tumultuous and like a tunnel with no end in sight, it truly feels like the darkest point. But it’s always darkest just before the dawn: as stillness sets in, the birds begin to wake and stormy skies clear for deliverance. 

This mix reflects the energy, weirdness, delirium and pertinacity required for that passage. Curated lovingly over late nights, I hope you find creative inspiration and beauty in this hour.
