Oxford based producer Real Connoisseur steps up for production duties on ALiVE with the ‘Brown Sugar EP’. ‘The Stash’ kicks things off, awash in reverb with a deeply stomping kick drum, lending the track the air of low-slung tech; ‘Brown Sugar’ is a neat counterpoint; a more clinical edged breakbeat groove with a gnarly bass line and trippy, processed vocals.

High Tide is a collective of great friends, seasoned promoters and we like to think accomplished DJs! We have regularly performed alongside our peers including the likes of Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, Groove Armada, Jamie Jones, Sasha, John Digweed, Joris Voorn, Hot Since 82, Steve Lawler, Skream, Annie Mac, Kolsch, Pete Tong and Dubfire to name but a few as well as locally based pals James Zabiela and Alan Fitzpatrick. We’ve put on some cracking parties too, our most infamous being the High Tide Boat Parties from Southampton in the UK.

With an endearing love for electronic music and some positive traction from the producers within our ranks it has been a long time coming for High Tide Recordings. We don’t give a flying f#*k about making money (lets hope we don’t lose too much though ), but if we get to release great underground dance music, educate ourselves in the process and have fun along the way we’ll be more than happy.

Solid Steel (3rd August) This week we welcome DJ Haus, the London based producer and Unknown To The Unknown and Hot Haus Recs label boss. His last release ‘Let My Brain Go EP’ was released on Chiwax Records,  on the 20th June. He drops a mix featuring Project Pablo, Gnork, Marquis Hawkes, Contactless and a Baba Stiltz Remix for Bell Towers. He told us;
“I grew up on solid steel mixes, i loved how they were super eclectic and packed with humour. So with this mix i decided to try and catch that kind of vibe.. loads of daft oddball house and electro - all played at the wrong speed and mixed not how they possibly were intended to be...  hope u dig it!”

As an artist we tend to be never ever satisfied with our work.  It could always be better, sound better, be more uplifting, be more groovy etc.  We listen to many other styles of music and always think that what we make is just not good enough.   The next track will be better, next track will sound better, the next track will be a hit.  Moving forward track after track like a music making machine with obsessive behaviours.  Often never stopping to look back as always working on the next exciting creation.  This project covers a huge spectrum of years from about the time things went digital until recent releases plus some remixes.  You will find the massive Guy J remix of Futurized Fears a remix he did for Bedrock way before he became as big as he is now.  Other than a couple of unreleased gems that will never be released, all these tracks can be found on Beatport or other online stores.  You can buy them but I doubt If i will receive any of the money due to the nature of the music industry.  Here you can listen to an epic journey covering my top 40 favourite Moonface tracks in one journey.  I have been working on this years and years.  This is delivering my portfolio to anyone who is interested.  Its so easy to over look producers music these days, when we are bombarded with so many Facebook posts after Facebook posts.  Individually these tracks are very unique and sometimes odd, together they become a 4 hour Moonface plateau of dance grooves from all influences and styles.  Moonface never followed the money, under the radar year after year quietly knocking out track after track in my spare time.
