Ali Wick, one of Canada’s most refreshing young new artists and songwriters, steps out with her last single from the upcoming EP, Sobbing at the Squat Rack. Just A Handful is a haunting exploration of love's fragility. This poignant ballad has already brought early listeners to tears, capturing the fear of vulnerability and the weight of unspoken desires. With evocative lyrics that paint a vivid picture of a once-safe haven now crumbling, Ali sincerely hopes you cannot relate to the song. The song was recorded in Nashville and Toronto with Producer Asher Condit, and co-written in Calgary with her brother, country musician Connor Wicklum.

In a jewel-toned departure from DIY phone camera aesthetics, the music video showcases Ali’s bold vision for performing stunning, surprising art while donning stunning gowns. Featuring a fierce female protagonist who rejects her need for a man, the video dramatically shuns the heartbreak of the lyrics and becomes an experience utterly independent of the song.

Quirky, charming and fun, Canadian/American soulful pop singer Ali Wick, a one-time product manager for major label artists and former professional player for Rugby Canada, is focusing on her original true love – music. Online music publication Canadian Beats called the song “a soulful pop delight, blending catchy melodies with upbeat energy” and noted how Ali’s vocals “draw you in with their inviting tone and smooth delivery.”

Her Fall 2024 EP 'Sobbing at the Squat Rack' is about this optimistic young woman who has gone through the wringer but is feeling more and more resolute in who she is and wants to be — and has a sense of humour about the ups and downs.
