„Clear As Water“ is about having difficulties with freely and fully trusting love. Very often to me it seems like we’re hyper focused on trusting a person when for me the bigger challenge is to trust in love. Coming from a background of the more abusive, absent kind of love I had and still have a hard time to trust in my own new definition of it. That I’m strong enough to keep coming back and moving towards my new kind of love. „As clear as water, I love you, but when there’s dirt inside, it can’t come through“ - The past, our narrative, the way we grew up sometimes makes the water muddy, but that doesn’t mean you can't see and trust people, it just takes more time to get close enough to fully see and trust them and yourself. „Clear As Water“ is about that.

„Bittersweet“ is about finding unconditional love in an inopportune moment in life that makes it almost impossible to fully enjoy it. It’s about realizing the beauty that small moments can hold and not letting everything be overshadowed by the hardships that life may pile onto us.

„ain’t stealing my joy“ is a personal reminder to not let others’ attempts to bring me down affect me so much. I’ve learned that letting mean people get to me only fuels their negativity. Instead, I try to focus on spreading kindness, no matter how others treat me, because I believe in it making the world a better place.

I think insecurities are such an interesting illusion our brains create for us. While projecting our fears onto scenarios makes us experience those figments of our imagination as if they were actually happening, in reality we rarely have a reason to be insecure because we’re all uniquely different and perfect as we are.

I made this track a while back, but after my grandpa died, I listened to it again and it just hit me differently - like it was meant for this moment.

Faded Lights is about the uncertain in life, and how unpredictable things may be turn out to be better than firstly expected.

I’m working on a lot of new music, which I’m super excited to release soon!

Here’s a little status update, which explains why I was fairly quiet recently:

Over Christmas I’ve moved from the Netherlands to Germany, to start pursuing music full time, because that’s what I truly love and want to do in life. I don’t make much, but enough to live off, as I am in a fortunate position where I don’t have to pay rent for now. There will be no changes for you as a listener, apart from the fact that you guys can expect more frequent releases now :)

One of my aims for 2017 is also to do all my visuals by myself. I’m planning to shoot the images for the majority of my artwork, and make (time lapse) videos which I’ll upload to my YouTube channel. If you have any ideas and/or suggestions for visuals, feel free to drop a comment, email me or message me on social media.

"Wanderlust" started out as a cinematic sketch, with the intention of it being a birthday gift. It was never meant to end up on the EP, however, after some experimentation I liked the track so much that I decided to append it to the existing tracks and make it the 5th on the EP.

Despite being quite different to my usual style and to the other songs included on the EP, "It Takes Time" came along very quickly. 

It started out as a test, as I desperately wanted to try and use the 30 year old tape deck of my dad. I came up with some chords, and sent them through the tape deck, which ended up being the intro to the song. The drums have a four over the floor beat, which was influenced by the vast amounts of German techno I had heard previous to making "It Takes Time".

This might quite possibly be my favorite track on the EP. 

I woke up in the middle of the night, thinking to myself that "Discovery" would be a suitable name for my EP. However, when I started working on ideas for the title track, nothing seemed to quite work out. So I decided to challenge myself and sample something in my kitchen and turn it into a pluck. I ended up filling a cognac glass with water, until it sounded somewhat close to a B note, and then hit it with a mallet. This is what I ended up using as a starting point for "Discovery".

"Sleepless in Berlin" is the title song of my album for two reasons. 

Firstly, Berlin is my favourite city, and the idea for this album and the track came to my mind while I was there on a short trip. 

Secondly, because this track has an interesting story. I kept kicking it off the album and putting it back on, because I was unsure if it would fit. I even re-wrote it once. 

In the end I ended up liking it so much that I made it the title track of the album.
