Following his cinematic ‘Tomorrow We’ll Be Here’ EP, the first release on Montréal’s Collection Disque Durs imprint earlier this year, @yehno recruits a host of all-star remixers for ‘Tomorrow We’ll Be Here Remixes’ featuring contributions from Pierce Fulton, Ronan, Martyn Bootyspoon, Priori, and Ouri.

Founded in 2018 in Montréal, Courage Holdings is an artist management and production company that curates events such as Piknic Electronik and Igloofest. Courage now reinvents itself, focusing its efforts towards artistic content production with their new record label Collection Disques Durs.

Young Russian producer, qwqwqwqwa, known for his Neoplasm imprint and club night in Saint Petersburg with Ugly Club, lands on Grid for our fifth release, full of surprises.

The EP contains six, varied tracks, all with a jagged, UK-edge. With EP-opener 'Core,' you board an ark of dread across a turbulent sea of sub frequencies that rock the ship. 'STBS' twinkles with modular tones of unpredictability, hanging the listener in a subtle groove. 'F Mate' is a rampant roller scurrying across the seafloor with unpredictable and petrifying bass. 'S-Low' is irresistibly groovy, boasting a b-boy drum pattern that is spread meticulously across the frequency spectrum. 'Perk' is dark and dirty with phased percussion that chimes over rumbling kicks. EP-closer 'p+DRM' is a 129bpm new-school jungle and bass hybrid with chords that are luscious and welcoming. TIP!

qwqwqwqwa - Low Priority EP [GRID005] previews

The imprint from Turin celebrates its second birthday with Flex003, a compilation featuring ten tools from new, up-and-coming and established artists from around the globe.

Ranging from 90 to 160+ BPM, the release encompasses multiple aspects of experimental club music such as dancehall, drum’n’bass, leftfield techno and broken beats sounds.

The compilation kicks off with a bass post-club experiment of ‘Gain XP’ from Bladeblanc, which leads to the combination of broken beats and atmospherical sound design of ‘Wonder’ from AYLN. Follows ’East Wing Oslo House’, the new techno-adjacent-mutant-club contribution from Ikävä Pii, and ‘Scamming’ from Lighght with its psychedelic vocals and pitch-shifting percussions. To close off the first side of the album we find the leftfield techno of Alec Pace’s ‘Ghost Money’ with its syncopated bass and mysterious vocals. Opening the second half the compilation is Honeydrip with her new work ‘Wake the Phone’, characterised by a bouncing beat and a 90's feel, followed by ‘Sentimento’, the quirky and hypnotic interlude signed by BLCKEBY. Hassan Abou Alam then brings the listener into a distant world with his glitchy robotic tool titled ‘Freeze’. The BPM then shifts up for an explosive ending where club-driven percussive rhythmics blends with d’n’b excursions in ‘Day After the Last Day’ from Diessa and ‘Rek’ from NORA DRUM.

JURANGO - Flourine Mink

On ACEN043 we welcome Istanbul-born, Strasbourg-based artist Vod Kasat. On their debut solo release, they showcase their broken, leftfield sound with an expansive 6 track EP.

Title track Mavi Maskara opens the record with glitched breaks and pummeling sub bass before propelling into the groove. Cavernous, fluctuating pads enter the mix, adding an atmospheric edge to this rolling percussive work-out.

Next up, Soap enters with staggering percussion and dubbed-out chords before launching into a high-octante electro-inspired rhythm. Cutting arpeggios drive us forward as disorientating sound design drifts through the mix.

Passenger Princess lowers the tempo significantly, alternating between super-time-stretched breaks and slo-mo gabber kicks. The disorientating groove progresses as a whirring siren hovers above.

Dur U kicks off the second half of the record in a tom-driven house groove. Overdriven, haunting vocals glide through the mix as Vod Kasat hits us with arresting, industrial percussion.

15 Feb opens with mangled breaks before entering into a chaotic, high tempo rhythm. A heavily distorted synth provides the hook as hard-hitting kicks command the dancefloor.

Closing track Raindrops On My Tongue opens in contrastingly serene fashion with waterdrops and ethereal pads. Heavy kicks and hectic percussion dance between glitchy melodies before experimental sound design brings the EP to a close.

Electroménager’s very first transmission sees the day, with a solo EP entitled 800mg from Manchester based Thodén, including a remix by Perko.

Taking inspiration from the uk’s unique bass and techno scene, Thodén delivers 4 carefully crafted tracks that explore sophisticated rhythms and dark heavy percussion, all pulled together by dreamy breakdowns to conduct those essential moments of euphoria on the dance floor. To finish it off; Numbers affiliate, Perko, produces his own take on ‘Specialist’, which results in nothing other than a dubby masterpiece driven by a charging kick. 

Recommended for both home and club appliance.

PREMIERE: Thodén - Esque [Electromenager]

For Farsight, California’s bucolic San Geronimo Valley was the space that allowed for the creation of this handpicked selection of artistic output. Following a period of deep interest in abstract painting and its relationship to music, the artist found this lush and sparsely populated region to be an ideal location for contemplation and composition. Although the majority of the work was executed in the first two months of 2020 in this forested setting, some of the pieces were based upon drafts created as early as Summer 2017.
“Hot Half” suggests the ongoing dialogue of techno, electro, and industrial music and the interstices between them.

Dark rooms with only a light on the decks, an overwhelming stack of speakers in proportion to the room size that would tend to have subs that would make your body feel like you were falling through a hole in the sky.

Havanna Laffe was written in an attempt to capture the atmosphere and energy of mid-summer garden parties in Liverpool."
