Sobolik is a DJ/producer from upstate New York, working out a bed-bound take on modern percussive club music.

Following their appearance on Flex002 compilation with the track ‘Camille’, Sobolik debuts on Early Reflex with Call, their first EP, containing four melodic and D’n’B inspired cuts, marking a newfound intention from the American producer to put their music out into the world.

The cinematic effects from the overture of ‘Theater Mode’ invites the listener into Sobolik's enchanted space. The track then suddenly turns into a total belter with the entrance of its D’n’B inspired rhythmic session, characterised by a syncopated kick drum and a dub-step influenced bass.

Title track ‘Call’ follows next with its mischievous beat, prolonging the listener’s journey into Sobolik’s world where vocal’s triplets and a savvy use of delay generate a sound-induced psychedelic sensation.

The second half of the EP kicks off with ‘Luna’ which brings the mood into fast-paced and dance-floor oriented territories. Here a bouncy kick drum and futuristic bass sounds build up the tension until the entrance of a melancholy chord progression which sets the climax of the track.

The EP reaches to its closure with ‘Foil’, a slow-paced techno track characterised by an incessant rhythmic session, a swinging bass and baritonal choirs with a tantric feel.

Premiere: Sobolik - Theater Mode [early reflex]

On the next All Centre release we welcome Montreal-based artist laced to the fold. The Causal Chain boss delivers a four track EP including a remix from fellow Canadian SIM.

The dreamy, dubbed-out pads and intricate minimal percussion of Bubble Beam ease us into the record. Stuttering kicks and deep subs kick things into gear, as the echoing chords fold in and out of themselves. Later, new harmonies and rhythmic switch-ups give further depth to the track, before closing with a glitched outro.

Next up, Caustic Reverie opens with hypnotic stabs and careful sound design, anchored by cavernous bass hits. The track breaks down before heavy broken techno rhythms emerge, 
with dubby chords and vocal chops dancing between them.

Future Sight brings the energy back down with a blissful ambient intro. Here, laced takes cues from ambient jungle, as precisely cut breakbeats weave amongst punchy sub bass hits and infectious melodies. Gradually the energy rises, allowing compelling kick drums to drive the track forwards.

Retaining the meditative pads of the original, SIM turns in a low-tempo rework of Future Sight. Rolling kick drums provide the basis for echoing chords and tripped-out sound design. The melodic elements are then stripped back, giving way to a dub inspired percussive section, before returning to the atmospheric tones of the introduction.

Lolito - RED DOMINOES

The imprint from Turin celebrates its second birthday with Flex003, a compilation featuring ten tools from new, up-and-coming and established artists from around the globe.

Ranging from 90 to 160+ BPM, the release encompasses multiple aspects of experimental club music such as dancehall, drum’n’bass, leftfield techno and broken beats sounds.

The compilation kicks off with a bass post-club experiment of ‘Gain XP’ from Bladeblanc, which leads to the combination of broken beats and atmospherical sound design of ‘Wonder’ from AYLN. Follows ’East Wing Oslo House’, the new techno-adjacent-mutant-club contribution from Ikävä Pii, and ‘Scamming’ from Lighght with its psychedelic vocals and pitch-shifting percussions. To close off the first side of the album we find the leftfield techno of Alec Pace’s ‘Ghost Money’ with its syncopated bass and mysterious vocals. Opening the second half the compilation is Honeydrip with her new work ‘Wake the Phone’, characterised by a bouncing beat and a 90's feel, followed by ‘Sentimento’, the quirky and hypnotic interlude signed by BLCKEBY. Hassan Abou Alam then brings the listener into a distant world with his glitchy robotic tool titled ‘Freeze’. The BPM then shifts up for an explosive ending where club-driven percussive rhythmics blends with d’n’b excursions in ‘Day After the Last Day’ from Diessa and ‘Rek’ from NORA DRUM.

Flex003 is available on all platforms starting from Friday 3rd June 2022.

Next entry on TEMET comes courtesy of Victor Praud alias Second., a producer raised in Rezé (very close to our basecamp Nantes) who's previously made a name for himself through Society of Silence, the duo he co-operates alongside fellow French musician Tite.

Second’s debut for TEMET is ideal for both unbothered raving and mental unshackling from reality’s murky thrall.  Coined by Praud himself, the title for the EP - “Rasuba” - is a neologism without meaning that precisely stands for what can not be put into words.

It's been a while since we decided to open and launch this new project, we were just waiting for the right moment, and maybe we waited too long. or maybe not. we were a little stucked by the indecision of when to put it out, how to contextualize, and all the usual "psychological" practices that one faces before starting a new journey. but ever since we received the masters of this wonderful concentrate of different minds, we have been looking forward to smashing it out. and whether it's the real right time or not, it's now finally here! the true meaning behind this capsule is not so definable in words, perhaps because it is an attempt to look back and forth at the same time, without getting lost in a one concrete definition. but when we got to the tracks, first individually, and then together, it came spontaneous to glimpse something new and unconventional as a whole. we are therefore proud to present another of our musical journeys, this time in certainly more experimental and odd territories. the sounds you hear can definitely be taken as the true manifesto of this new chapter.
