We met Volen through a tip from our friends at Cyclone as a Los Angeles-based DJ who was also a natural with production. In 2021 we released Volen's Distortion mini-album on Rhizome Forms. Those heady productions stuck with us and we knew a vinyl would soon be ready. Four years later, with countless hours spent in his Arizona desert sound lab, we present four acidic dancefloor interventions on wax.

“Validation” is immediately lively with a cascading acid groove. Spinning through inversions, the vocal refrains frame the kaleidoscopic dance floor energy of the title track.

The record's a-side finds completeness with the twisted anthem “I've Got to Shower".
Wobbly chords simmer under that famous sample while a slick breakbeat delivers the rhythm.

Side-b arrives with swagger as "Left & Right” rolls in with a mental acid and breakbeat powerplant of a groove.The track's breakdown billows atmosphere while the lower frequencies growl.

Volen saves the starry ecstasy for the final track. “Pump Their Dump” is an upbeat and dreamy acid house journey evolving into a collage of ear candy samples that'll satisfy dancers looking for that positive vibration release.

Four Four Premiere: Hank LW - Learned Response (Born Sleepy)

For this @darkscienceelectro premiere we at another look at @Conforce aka Versalife on @2020visionrecordings

Versalife’s second release for 20/20 Vision sees Dutch producer Boris Bunnik aka Conforce return with another slab of signature electro.

The track selected by @DVSNME to premiere is the second track of this 4-track EP. ‘Aegis’ delivers a double dose of mechanical funk, played over atmospheric strings and auditory acid delights. This entire EP is quite the work by the veteran producer. The vinyl release will become available on October 14th.

If I am being honest, there isn't a whole lot that I know about INDEX:Records. Apparently, they are a record label that was started in 2017 and consists of artists from Manchester, Berlin, and Auckland. Self-described as "confusing af," INDEX:Records are clearly a group that doesn't take themselves too seriously. However, the level of in which they give absolutely no fucks should be commended. I honestly haven't laughed this hard researching a label in quite some time. For god's sake, their about page reads:

"The future is Cyborg Orgy. We, with machines, are penetrating and generating. We metabolise our instruments, giving them life and personifying them for our own devices. It is the conscious touch which has the ability to awaken the complexities of these mechanisms and arouse their own personalities."

How can you not fall in love with these guys? In all seriousness though, label heads Con + Mos actually release some highly original and experimental music. Their seventh record, which comes out today, features new music from Berlin producer Ike Zwanikken, simply known as "Ike." Featuring two original compositions and a remix by GOD69, the lads seem to be putting all that robot fucking they're doing to good use. A great example of this is Ike's "Kiwami Formed," which you can listen to above. Although elements of the song are quite futuristic and mechanical in nature, the tune still manages to exude a level of sexiness that's undeniably human. Take into account it's break-dancing assortment of electro wobbles and energetic drum patterns, it's only a matter of time before "Kiwami Formed" will have you up, dancing, and all hot and bothered.

“Victim Of The System” is a 28-track compilation from newly formed label Twin System, with all profits going towards Brixton Soup Kitchen. 
Twin System is made up of South London-based DJs and producers DJ Baklava, Flytipper, and brothers Billy and Lewi Boome. 
After gravitating towards certain sonic worlds throughout a residency on Balamii radio and a handful of parties in London & Bristol, ‘Victim Of The System’ arrives as an effort to showcase some of the artists whose music has kept our minds and moods ticking over throughout the lockdown period. 
Curated in collaboration with friend of the label Junior, and available alongside a tee designed by Rotterdam based illustrator Tim Mulder, a varied batch of sounds feature. 
Functional heaters sit alongside malfunctioning oddities, united by an ear-tickling capability. 

Brixton Soup Kitchen offers critical support to the homeless and in need, and relies heavily on donations to sustain their work, particularly in these trying times. 
Still supporting the local community while temporarily closed due to the pandemic, they provide relief to many disproportionately affected BAME persons, as well as a homeless population forced back onto the streets since temporary housing provided came to an end.

PREMIERE: J-Shadow - Terminal Velocity (Twin System)

ACEN019 sees Bristol producer MISH provide his debut release following appearances on the cities Noods and TenTwenty radio stations.

Title track ‘Berserker’ begins ominously with crisp folly snaps that give way to a bobbing beat that is further thrown with punchy kicks. As the track continues it segways between sparse pauses and sub heavy moments ready to grapple with the dancefloor. 

On Ocean XP the feeling is switched up, with profuse chords and melodic flashes jetting between one another, setting the stage for an autonomic jaunt that’s motoric drive feels at odds with the title track’s springy mobility.

Final track ‘Rattlesnake’ hinges around a skittering broken beat that constantly mutates as pointed percussion weaves in and out of focus. As the track powers forward a sharp acidic melody splashes across MiSH’s carefully arranged canvas of drums as his signature manipulated FX take us towards a remote listening space.

Berserker is available across all platforms from the 31st of July.

@this-is-our-time welcomes @aspetuck from the US to their label family with 'The Time Capsule Experiment' EP. His three original tracks are ranging from house, breakbeat to electro but all of them come with a nice twist. Jazzy chord & odd vocoder sounds accompany a cosmic soundscape on the EP starter 'Lift Point' and with tweaked chirps & eastern strings on a bare breakbeat, 'The Time Capsule Experiment' is definitely the most leftfield one on this EP. Closing off the release is the sinister electro 'Solace' of which we can only imagine a demon-summoning tribal ritual was the inspiration. 
The EP comes with two remixes. Jeigo's rethinking of the title track is a meetup of two worlds: an aerial stomper for closing your set in the early morning hours. The dubby trance remix of 'Lift Point' is from the label boss Route 8 - his synth pads have never been so trippy like this!
