This track sees gifted multi-instrumentalist James Blackshaw (Young God/Important/Current 93) recording his own version of Roger Eno's beautiful 1988 piece "Between Tides", re-arranging the original piano instrumental for guitar, organ and drums.

This came in too late to be included on the GREATER LENGTHS compilation (which included a disc of All Saints classics re-interpreted by contemporary producers, including an Odd Nosdam take on Harold Budd's "Feral") but is well worth a listen, and as an added bonus, if played on repeat, it's designed to loop seamlessly & forever!

To celebrate the imminent release of the new Sun Gong 12"  we're pleased to share this edit of the second side by Benjamin Tierney. 

Benjamin Tierney is a Los Angeles-based recording and mix engineer who has worked on widely acclaimed albums by Kamasi Washington (The Epic), Flying Lotus (Cosmogramma) and Gaslamp Killer. Together with Carlos Niño he worked on mixing and editing Laraaji's extensive summer 2016 NYC jams recorded with Davey Jewell into the tracks that appear on Sun Gong and Bring On The Sun. 

Sun Gong is a major new self-contained work by the celestial music practitioner. An experiment with gong microtonalties processed through various electronic effects. The results are unlike any music he has made before - two side-long long-form pieces that evoke the sound of a shimmering metallic eternal wave. 

This strictly limited edition clear vinyl LP raises the curtain for the more extensive double album Bring On The Sun which will be released two weeks later.

All Saints Records presents another remix from Laraaji’s most recent album ‘Bring On The Sun’, this time courtesy of french electronic trio M.A Beat! who have remixed ‘Ocean Flow Zither’. Having previously been given the remix treatment by LA based spiritual beat-maker ‘Ras G’, pioneers of the Nautilogical Cosmos ‘Seahawks’,  and self proclaimed ‘blissmaker’ and co-founder of Leaving Records ‘Matthewdavid’, Laraaji’s influence is clearly far reaching, and inspires varied interpretations. In this remix, M.A Beat! highlight their favourite of Laraaji’s instruments, the zither, and add their usual setup of jazz drums, MPC, vintage synthesizers and sequencers. The group previously collaborated with Laraaji on the song ‘Brain Off’, from their recently released album ‘Sans Soleil’, and the musical connection between artists is evident, resulting in a work which honours the variety of musical worlds from which the artists draw influence.

Laraaji is a musician, mystic and laughter meditation practitioner based in New York City. He began playing music on the streets in the 1970s, improvising trance-inducing jams on a modified autoharp processed through various electronic effects. Brian Eno saw him playing one night in Washington Square Park and invited him to record an album for his seminal Ambient series (Ambient 3: Day Of Radiance, released 1980). Laraaji went on to release a prolific series of albums for a wide variety of labels, many of which he recorded himself at home and sold as cassettes during his street performances.

Ras G (Brainfeeder/Ninja Tune) explores space and time through his ancient/futuristic music. Dusty, ethereal and bugged out, the Crate Creator's beats bring the past to the future.

Emaljets Hav translates to “The Enamel Sea” in English. It is a cautionary tale about the accumulation of toxic plastics, chemicals, and other pollutants being dumped into our planet’s waters. The song describes the vulnerability of the environment’s beauty and the billions of lives that are at stake once these waters become permanently altered into an unrecognizable substance, incapable of sustaining any form of life on planet Earth.

Dallas Acid: "While The Spiral Arm focuses on the collective human experience and our spiritual relationship to Earth’s various terrains and ecosystems, The Spiral Ambience shifts perspectives, imagining the relationship from the planet’s point of view.  These slowed, remixed tracks offer the listener a deeper study, a chance to feel the tones of the planet, and the exist for a while in the ether of synth and gong. 

We’ve experimented with remixing our own recordings over the years, but rarely has a piece come into its own, with a unique personality and such a distinctive feeling from the original. The approach we took was similar to when we were creating music for float tanks a few years ago: stripping it down to a select few tracks, affecting & manipulating the speeds, and then remixing them into a new composition."

Dallas Acid on The Enamel Sea:

Like all of the tracks on the forthcoming Spiral Ambience, The Enamel Sea was born from a tape manipulation project. After finishing The Spiral Arm LP, we began experimenting with slowing recordings of the sequences and reworking the synths, mellotrons and some percussion with new effects.  Emaljets Hav became The Enamel Sea, and like its progenitor, it conveys a warning about environmental neglect, specifically the polluting of our oceans and the increasing greenhouse gasses affecting our ice caps as Climate Change begins to take its toll on the planet.

We shot the video for The Enamel Sea in Snoqualmie Falls, Washington, while on a break from a west coast tour last year and decided to spend it at the "Great Northern Hotel.” It is indeed the waterfall you can see in the opening shot of the legendary “Twin Peaks” series. The waterfall was more gorgeous and more mesmerizing every time we went out to look at it, leading to many beautiful, mysterious shots. We added in some frost footage we’d shot as well, which seemed an appropriate symbolic beginning, and slowed and recut the film to match the speed of the song.
