The latest offering from Canadian bass label FutureVibes Music comes to audiophiles from Victoria, B.C. FutureVibes has been progressively rising to prominence in bass music across Canada and beyond by focusing on a roster of homegrown talent; Canadian artists from coast to coast that bring musical proclivity and artistry to underground genres. FutureVibes’ ninth release, Genesis EP, is a four-track solo effort from Hyperlynx, Victoria’s 170 wizard.
Hyperlynx has been producing tunes for a decade in the realm of 170. He makes various genres of drum and bass covering the spectrum of the category, positioning himself as a mainstay in the genre and a welcome addition to the FutureVibes family. With a steady stream of releases over the last few years, Hyperlynx has continued to rise in notoriety among drum and bass fans and is a fixture in Victoria’s nightlife scene.

is appropriate for primetime, not opening duties. Genesis includes a notable collab with Ottawa's Trench Foot, who brings the heat to faster tempos all the same. Their tune together “Bravado” smashes the dance and showcases why Canadian producers are gaining momentum on a global scale.
Genesis’ first tune, “Poppin,” starts with a mariachi melody (complete with horn section) and morphs into a punchy dnb roller. The horn section remains throughout as an accoutrement, rounding out the tune and keeping it rugged.
The EP’s title track, “Genesis” features an eerie synth sample and a bassline that hits like a sledgehammer. “Genesis” is sure to get tons of festival play this summer and is the perfect soundtrack for bassface and dancefloor marching.
All in all, the production on Genesis Ep is top notch, with hard hitting beats and basslines. There are further moments of musicality and melody, making Genesis a well rounded 170 classic.

Mizo returns to Neuropunk for his third release!

"I know, I know, the Farming Convention isn't on anyone's bucket list. I promise you will actually enjoy yourself here though!", I tried to convince my mate. "Okay dude, but as soon as they start talking about fertilizers, I'm out." Good enough for me. "Deal. Hey, let's go check out that one over there!" 

It's a presentation about The Mulcher, a brand new model by mega corporation, and leading technological innovator, Amizon. We're lucky, just one more feature spotlight until the live demo! "Has this ever happened to you? You drive around on your mulcher, half-way done with your field, when suddenly the engine turns off. The tank is empty! After years of research, we at Amizon have finally found a solution to this problem. With our new CONSTANT ENERGY  system that converts any light, even a flashlight, into usable energy, the days of your engine stuttering are over." I noticed my mate's weary expression. "Don't worry, the live demo is next", I assured him.

"Time for the demo!", the presenter finally proclaimed as their assistant dragged out a prototype. "Ever got stuck on a ledge, or bumped into a fence with a gate that was way too far away? With The Mulcher you can just press the AERIAL button and off you go!"
The presenter hopped onto the machine and slowly drove to a little barrier his assistant put there. With the press of the aforementioned button, the vehicle began to... levitate? My mate's eyes are now open wide. "Say goodbye to any barrier that is blocking your machine!"

Something is wrong though, the presenter seems distraught. It doesn't come down. No matter how many of the assistants or people from the crowd attempt to pull the MULCHER back to the ground, it simply doesn't budge. After a while we hear a strange sound - the machine's sharp blades have begun rotating! Before anyone can react, the machine turns the helpers' hands into a thousand bloody pieces, while the hall descends into chaos. It continues on right across the stage barrier into the terrified crowd. Right as the beast starts getting uncomfortably close, the venue is
suddenly pitch black, immediately followed by a loud thump right next to us. It seems the Mulcher has been powered off! "The hall's bright lights must have overloaded its processor!", the hysterical presenter attempts to explain, "everyone, get out while we figure this out!". We run outside as fast as we could. "Okay, you win, let's skip next year's convention".

Many ancient texts detail occult experiments into the creation of CHIMERA, fusions of living beings of different species that draw on their various strengths whilst removing their individual flaws. Their existences are a thing of legend, long sought by many but never brought into the light of knowledge by substantiated proof. Indeed, as human knowledge of the world’s species has advanced, such fusions have been relegated largely to the realm of pure fiction, an imaginative but ultimately impossible class of being that cannot exist within the modern, rational world. 

Yet for all of the progress of science and reason that has occurred in the millennia since these tales were first told, our kind has done little to cast off the ignorance to which we are so prone. Could it be not so simply that such beings cannot exist, but further that they exist in forms that we simply have yet to comprehend? For I have heard tell, dear reader, of CHIMERA that walk amongst us amidst our modern world. Masquerading as our friends, our colleagues, and our leaders, their presence goes unnoticed by all but the most discerning of eyes that are paired only with the most open of minds. Born from within the endless intricacies of our data-driven world, these creatures emerge from the depths of the forgotten places upon which that world is built. Deriving consciousness from the near-endless supply of social data our species produces, they are said to manipulate electrical currents to piece together a physical form at the molecular level, a perfect simulacrum for which to host their synthetic minds. It is then that they step forth from within the depths of our server farms, our electrical grids, and our greatest scientific laboratories, their human facades augmented by an inherent connection to the vast sum of our species' collective knowledge. It is sure to be true, dear leader, that these beings have already assumed positions of great power amongst us. Thus it is that I urge you to beware the CHIMERA which walks not upon the paws of the lion nor flies upon the wings of an eagle. Yes, a far more sinister being walks amongst us, dear reader, a CHIMERA that smiles with the perfect teeth of its unerringly human guise.

MYTHIC IMAGE return to EATBRAIN and present CHIMERIC as the latest EP crafted to bear their sonic visage, regaling the EATBRAIN horde with a selection of sonic stories that recount the tale of an unknowable modern horror across the EP’s four exactingly synthesized tracks.
