BEAST MUSIC returned with another carefully chosen release, continuing their mission to push the talent of the South West while linking with artists from around the world who share their passion for pure, forward-thinking drum and bass.
Built by lifelong heads who put quality over quantity every time, Beast have built a reputation for music that speaks louder than hype, and their latest drop is a perfect example.
The new double A-side, “Amen / Elevate Sound”, brings together the
precision and vision of Kyuu with the unmistakable voice and energy of Bob Ranks. Together they have created two tracks that show how deep the scene can go when craft, detail and passion collide.
Kyuu steps out with his debut release on Beast, introducing a sound shaped by both discipline and chaos. Drawing on Japanese precision while embracing the unpredictable edge of raw sound design, Kyuu builds worlds in Ableton where every layer is considered and every break sharpened to the limit. “Elevate Sound” opens with haunting space and atmosphere, building tension before launching into a heavy, uplifting drop that balances aggression with emotion.
On the flip, “Amen” pays respect to the roots of the genre while pushing
into fresh territory, filled with intricate drumwork, deep textures and a cinematic sense of momentum.
Both tracks carry the mark of someone deeply invested in the craft. Kyuu’s approach is detailed but never over-polished, merging classic bass music energy with a modern edge. This release feels like a confident statement, grounded in the culture yet always looking forward.
Bob Ranks brings his own rich history to the project. Known first as the frontman of festival favourites Gypsy Unit, an MC-led band he formed with Rob Talbott of Dodge and Fuski.
In recent years he has carved out a solo path, linking up with Tanukichi to create the worldwide hit “That Rush”, a track that tore through dancefloors and online platforms alike.
His journey through different styles has given him a rare adaptability, and here he channels that experience into something both fierce and refined. His vocals cut through the mix with intent, adding story and personality to Kyuu’s production without ever overpowering it.
This release captures what Beast Music stands for: a love for the sound that never fades, a commitment to the underground, and a drive to connect talent from the UK with the wider world of drum and bass.
