Race Against The Wind

Like breathing, improvisation is an unconscious flow from within.
Of course, one must understand the basics and have spent a good many hours building a tonal memory, but once one gets the knack of it, improvising, no matter what the instrument, is a Gift that keeps on giving. :)

As you tap into these inner autonomic cycles, you reach a Zone that's beyond anything you could consciously think of or plan. Like one's heartbeat, it's in tune with Life itself. It just happens. 

In any case...I love it when the Music is 'Floating'.......'Levitating' so to speak... not really going anywhere in particular, but tonally and rhythmically totally Present.  And... as we get better and better at finding the door to this experience, more and more wondrous music begins to manifest itself through us. it's almost as if we aren't even present.

Then the hard work of Arranging and Mastering begins!  :-D 

But be that as it may... for the Best experience of this one, I suggest you put it on Repeat at a Medium volume and let it go for 10-15 minutes.  it's sure to help you 'take a breath', become lost in peace, and relax deeply. :D

A friend of mine who's a brilliant saxophone player did this cool version of Little girl last year, just came across it again and thought  I'd share it 💜

Little Girl (jazzy version with Mervyn Sayers)

I’m standing by the table 
with my pants around my ankles
Waiting for the doctor to come in

When I was visited by an angel in a lab coat
Who stuck her hands on my nuts
And the is what she said

“Cough real hard and turn your head to side”
“Most of my patients get it right the first time”

I said “I’ll do as you speak”
“Except when I cough real hard”
“give me a kiss on my cheek”

I said “hold on, do I do it like this?”
Then strike a pose till she give me a kiss, but no

Drive All Night

Jazz variations made after listening to a rap track by Dtrot the Pilot, a vast talent....first time listening...and I mean really listening... to a rap track....specifically....listening to the musical patterns. After immersion in Dtrot the Pilot's track (Whatcha Feelin) for over an hour...this came out. Thank you Dtrot. You inspired me.

The behavioral context of ringed seal calls has not been confirmed; however, on the basis of their presence in winter and spring, Stirling et al. (1983) hypothesized that the calls are involved in intraspecific competition to maintain social structure around breathing holes in the sea ice and that they may also serve a reproductive purpose.

About the reimagined sound:
This miniature piece evokes an imaginary Antarctic soundscape inspired by the marvelous ringed seals. Some reflections in a poem form emerge as a prelude to a question that pretends to make consciousness about the climate warming effects. The contrast in the second section ends with a glimpse of hope to revert part of the damage done to our home, Mother Earth. There is no more future if we don't take action in our present.

Soaring

Electro-Acoustic entreaty to realize we are all alike and all in this together.


You been around, seen what’s been done
Few stand firm, most turn and run
Others never let you see the sights
they say look inside, things will be alright
Living is what this life is for
But nothing we do seems to work anymore

People look what we are
Can’t you see what we’re doing
We could so easily be those over there

Clouds are gathering in the distance
As the sun shines on this land

It’s hard to sleep when someone’s kicking your bed
Now’s the time to wake and feed your head

When a beautiful love ends ...
That we realize that the engine of our unions is no longer fueled, only by a flood of lies and complacency.
So, it's time to put aside their feelings of ownership of the other and allow each other the freedom to walk away.
If friendship and mutual respect are true then it is no longer a breakup, but a disunity.
There are no broken dishes, no bad words, no violence and no anger.
In theory it sounds smooth and easy. In reality, it is a deep sadness, a broken oath and a heavy feeling of loneliness.
We choose a music, a song, we listen to it repeatedly. We let our tears flow, which relieves our hearts and numbs our tortured minds.
Time goes by and the sadness slowly fades. We then keep the memory of a beautiful story, a slice of life with no more lies.
