The music of Abdallah Oumbadougou honors the beauty of the desert and aims to unite the divided population of his region. The Tuareg singer and guitarist, who was born in Niger, dedicated his career to singing about the struggles of his people and wrote songs inspired by the events of his persecuted and exiled community.

Abdallah Oumbadougou’s poetic and revolutionary lyrics address the troubling issues facing the Tuareg and other nomads of the Sahara, of which he offered a lucid and concerned insight.

During his trips through North- and West-Africa Joep Mencke fell in love with the sounds of West-African music, and in particular with the sound of Abdallah Oumbadougou. Even without being able to understand the words Abdallah is singing, he could deeply feel his music. 

After Oumbadougou’s passing in 2020, Joep Mencke decided to pay tribute to this incredible musician and his culture by creating his own version of “Talla Talline Manine”. The remix aims to continue Oumbadougou’s legacy of bringing people together through music and present his story to a new audience.

To round off their birthday in style Craig and Graeme have asked some of the label's main acts and strongest supporters to contribute a track for a new compilation. Artists including jozif, Ryan Crosson, Uner, Gary Beck, Of Norway and Simon Garcia all feature in the collection that Silicone Soul present as a snapshot of the future sound and musical vision of Darkroom Dubs.

Never restricted by the boundaries of genre, the title track is highly mystifying as it resonates a distinct middle eastern tone through the infectious melody and layered atmosphere. The release also features the stunning ‘Eclipse’ which follows suit taking you on a deep melodic journey, filled with warm tones, vibrant strings and a solid bassline.

Hoj's EP on All Day I Dream has been a long time coming. After over 15 years as a DJ, this EP marks Hoj's official release. 

Telefade is a track that Hoj had been evolving for some time. After a final session with Modd, Hoj took the track to Burning Man where he played it for the first time. Lee Burridge heard it and signed the tune on the spot. Featuring haunting vocals from Amega.

The second track on the EP is called Leap Day, named for the day in 2016 that Hoj began it. Made for sunrises and sunsets, the tune weaves through lush melodies  with a bounce. Powel's delicate and refined touch brings a sophistication to Leap Day.

“Emerging from the darkness, we found the light, a conscious and spiritual movement of esoteric knowledge and techno music.” The Berlin-based label Occultists proudly presents its first release, the Dead Man Rising EP by Filipino-Swiss-German producer Dugong, who brings us her spiritual exploration of the human experience. The extended digital release includes tracks by Dugong with several collaborations with Xenoscapes, Sweet Anomaly and Likeatree and remixes by Öona Dahl, Alicia Hush and Mrs. Jekyll, a known techno producer, whose identity will remain unrevealed: since the word ‘occultism’ is translated as hidden knowledge, Mrs. Jekyll’s real name will never reach the light of day. The vinyl release also includes a powerful vinyl-only remix by Jamaica Suk.

As the EP’s name and the symbolic artwork may suggest, Dead Man Rising is about understanding the seemingly final or negative events in life from an enlightened angle and perceiving them as something positive with a new hope or a possibility to grow. Death makes a way for life, challenges can be turned into blessings and edifying experiences, and without darkness, there would be no light to be shed into every corner. Dugong’s work calls for reconnecting with the self and the spirit and helps to find the ability to heal and save ourselves through the oldest art form which has been bringing people together: music.

On the EP, Dugong’s music pulsates in the techno heartbeat of the spiritual warriors (‘Dead Man Rising’), sways in the downtempo of the warning calls about the danger for the human mind (‘Evil Magician’) and contemplates in the deep dreams of our ancestors who could read the stars (‘What May Come’). Dugong draws inspiration from various music styles and symbols which she boils together like secret ingredients of a reviving potion. The results are catchy, vital and miscellaneous tracks full of high sensibility, layered vocals and tribal beats. The remixes are shrouded in a techno haze and have been conjured to unleash Dugong’s spirit on the dancefloor.

Joep Mencke, one of the happies campers of them all, and his soul-propelling masterpiece, Asiri, is the perfect piece of music to usher in the Spring. “Music takes me on a journey. @klassifiedrecords proudly presents @nhiimusic’s new EP, "Gone Too Far"; An intensely deep and evolving musical journey, centred around the message of the self inflicted problems that humanity have caused to our planet. Nhii and @shyammusic teamed up for the first time to deliver a powerful, moving and at times, dark anthem which has been inspired by mother nature’s cries for help and the current repercussions of a world in which we must change to survive.

Remix duties are supplied by German native @nikoschwind as well as Israeli producer and self professed eternal smiler Jenia Tarsol. Schwind's cut drives forward with a melodic heartbeat and mesmerising vocals that drift across the length and breadth of the release. A melancholic message sits deep within the music, yet Schwind's version expertly exudes the right injection of emotion.

Next up drops @jenia-tarsol's adaption. Breakbeat undertones set the pace, hypnotic percussive elements filter through, a hybrid middle eastern-esque rhythm that pays hommage to Jenia's routes, but subtly housed in a more modern electronic aethetic. It's an early morning riser, a hands in the air moment, but more purposefully, a time for reflection about the footprint that we leave throughout life.

All Day I Dream events began on a Brooklyn rooftop back in 2011 and have since become an international sensation. Around the world, crowds continue to be drawn to the experience and to become a part of it's community. Spurred on by the music of Lee Burridge and his unique roster of artists, each brings his or her own emotive musical vision to the daytime party. Sounds that are all too rare in the current electronic music scene.

Each year the events continue to spread out across the world. From Los Angeles to London. Melbourne to Moscow, Berlin to Beirut to Brazil and back to their spiritual home base of New York City. They continue to flourish due, in part, to a core ideal. To create something truly magical. The passion to create magic manifests itself  both in those organizing as well as those attending the events.  

All Day I Dream also continually forges it's own unique ambience through a combination of the musical journeys taken by it's listeners as well as noteworthy venue choices. Each location transformed with the event's bespoke production design. Structural art, hanging gardens, colourful fabrics, fairy lights and lanterns.
