The idea of this piece comes from features of Chinese paintings. A major difference of Chinese painting is multiple visual perspective. This approach provides viewers aspects to tour around different parts of painting like they actually live inside, rather than creating a three dimensional illusion in linear perspective. Axonometric projection is one technique widely used in Chinese paintings, especially large works on scrolls. It means “to measure along axes”, it is a painting skill that shows images of an object as viewed from a skew direction in order to reveal more than one side in the same picture. Other skills used in Chinese paintings are using colors instead of sizes to indicate distance. The music is attempting to give variations of perspective of sounds and timbres. It utilities the benefit of 8 channel environment to create a perspective for audiences to live inside the music. Sounds and timbres are morphed in different ways and moving like a scroll.

It is an electroacoustic composition for 8 channel audio.

The title and idea of this music is inspired by the last novel of Albert Camus.  This philosophical novel applies a stream of conscious in a first person description talking about his judgement of confessions. Under the surface of confession and self analyze, the monolog narrater argued and derided all the ethical values.  In the mean time he also derided himself as one with all different annoyance and contradicts without guidance of ethics.

In this piece For Flute Solo, extended techniques create different timbres and noises for mixing and transcending with conventional flute timbres using ideas of frequency and amplitude modulation to develop an expressive melodic motive.  Beginning with noises, the music attempts to transcend into pitched timbre, into a melodic motive, then the motive is variated and modulated into complicated gestures, and finally collapsing back to noises again.

Composer Allen Shu-Cheng Wu has had an extensive career as a film composer in both Taiwan and in the United States. Career highlights include having recorded the 1929 silent film, Un Chien Andalou, in full surround audio; a live collaboration with the Chicago Modern Orchestra for the score to Renee Baker's Borderline; and a worldwide broadcast of his Laptop Improvisations with electronics, trumpet and theremin. He has also participated in multiple presentations at various international festivals around the world.

A Fulbright scholar, Allen holds a doctorate in composition and theory from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and, along with having taught film music at many universities in Taiwan, he also has invented an AI sample synthesizer called SuperSampler.
