Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community: You only get out what you put in. Find space to contribute to your scene before you expect anything from it. Whether it's running a club night, starting a label, collaborating, sharing knowledge or promoting other artists, giving your energy to the scene is vital. I truly believe that so many of the opportunities I have received have come from the energy I have contributed - I see it as a really beautiful exchange.

Many of you may know wonderful NEELE from Leipzig's one and only Institut fuer Zukunft, where she holds a residency for quite a long time now. Being one of the city's most versatile DJs, NEELE is also a founding member of the feminist music collective G-EDIT. Her energetic bass driven and UK inspired sound is reflected in this mix which bounces us into the clouds in a  second.

For this week’s DETECT we welcome @bestboi.  

A rapidly increasing presence in Germany, they first came onto our radar a year ago during their determined efforts to increase FLINTA* presence in Hamburg’s club culture. 

Part of the queer, FLINTA* collective POSSY and a resident at The Golden Pudel Club, Best Boy Electric’s fight has since taken them further afar with recent bookings at Tresor and ://about blank as well as festivals across Germany. Taking efforts into their own hands they launched their own events including ‘Fine Space’ which prioritises platforming BIPOC FLINTA* artists and ‘Dream Journal’. 

For this vinyl-only mix they take a more melancholic approach to their Detroit electro influenced sound, introducing increasingly volatile, percussive elements.

Ein wunderbar unkonventioneller und wohltuender Sound aus House, Breaks, Bass und Contemporary Club kommt mit dem step045 von Sui. Gekonnt verspielt übergeht sie die Genregrenzen und modelliert ihre eigene Klangästhetik. In Frankfurt musikalisch sozialisiert ging ihr Weg über Leipzig nach Weimar, wo sie aktuell experimentelles Radio studiert. Neben unterschiedlichsten Engagements in der Clubkultur, bei Workshops und Podiumsdiskussionen ist Sui ein Teil des FLINTA-Netzwerkes L1CK und eine starke Stimme im Kampf gegen das Patriachart in der Musikszene. Vielen Dank für deinen Einsatz in der Szene und den tollen Mix moderner Ausdrucksmusik für uns.

A wonderfully unconventional and soothing sound of House, Breaks, Bass and Contemporary Club comes with the step045 by Sui. Playfully she transcends genre boundaries and models her own sound aesthetic. Musically socialized in Frankfurt, her path went via Leipzig to Weimar, where she is currently studying experimental radio. Besides various engagements in club culture, workshops and panel discussions, Sui is part of the FLINTA network L1CK and a strong voice in the fight against patriachart in the music scene.
