Solid Steel (1st November) Having announced that Four Tet will be joining the line up for the Solid Steel 25th Anniversary night at Fire in London on 6th Dec, we now hand over the decks to him for a 2 Hour exclusive mix. 
Four Tet's history with the show extends back to his first mix in 2001 and part of the Solid Steel US Tour that year with DJ Food, DK and Bonobo. He was also the first guest at the monthly Solid Steel club night in 2004, with more mixes to follow and his music has been consistently played on the show. 

As with all our 25th Anniversary guests, we asked for something different and here's what he said about his mix;

"This mix is made from unofficial edits and mixes.  I guess these edits were mainly made to be played in clubs and I've always like the tradition of DJs extending and rearranging to make things work in their sets.  Most of the edits here are unreleased because they are just tools for DJs really.  The Black Unity one was done for the Solid Steel US tour that I did in 2001.  Thanks to Daphni, Floating Points and Happa for the edits I got from them."

Pete Rock- "Roy Ayers Tribute Mix"

Following from the buzz garnered by his remix for Machinedrum last Fall, Shadow has applied his production techniques to a fascinating subject: '70s Dutch prog band Supersister.  Releasing a handful of albums on Polydor between 1970 and 1974, the band counted among its ranks one Robert Jan Stips, whose keyboard playing caught the ear of Shadow way back in the mid '90s.  (That's Robert Jan's playing you hear sampled on both the "Organ Donor Remix" AND "Rabbit In Your Headlights" by Unkle!)  Stips and Shadow met in 2010 at one of Shadow's Netherlands "Shadowsphere" shows, and a discussion was introduced about the possibility of a remix or other collaboration.  "It just seemed appropriate," says Shadow, "Given how influenced I've been by RJ Stips' playing.  Plus, it's a great way to draw attention not only to the songs I've sampled, but their broader work as well."  On his remix, Shadow interpolates portions of "Dona Nobis Pacem" by Supersister, and twists them into a complex framework inspired by elements of footwork and the contemporary California beat scene (check out that drop!!!)

This is a project that I was asked to do I guess sometime in the early 2000's . It was a remix for a Bob James project . the idea was to take an existing piece of work and flip it . So this was my flip . I had Pete Miser come in and do some vocal snippets . I never knew what happened to the project but I did put a lot of work into this mix so I figured I would share it . Enjoy , Prince Paul unreleased series .

This mixtape is a tribute to my favorite producer- Christopher Edward Martin, better known as DJ PREMIER. Rather than put together a basic compilation of Premier-produced tracks, I decided to focus solely on Preemo's beats/scratches!!  

Please note- I put this entire project together using computer software.  I purposefully decided NOT to use my turntables at all.  Every cut, scratch, transform, zugga-zugga, stab, rub, drag, and backspin you hear were done by DJ PREMEIR!
