Featured soundtrack to this video:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4GLCyL8TE8   A song about the legendary mountaineer George Mallory......in 1924 he was last seen going for the summit....never to return. In 1999, an expedition found a body at 27,000 ft. It was Mallory, and a careful search of his clothing revealed one item was missing........... a photo of his beloved wife Ruth.

He had promised her that he would leave it at the summit............. did  he make it to the top ? He died following his dream.... and even today, covered by a small cairn of rocks, he hugs his favourite mountain.

I wrote this thinking of those who risk it all for their dreams..... whatever their mountain, or whoever their  'Ruth' may be.

Days drift on by like smoke before your eyes
Wonder why you try at all,
Reaching for those dreams like mountains through the mist
Maybe getting ready for a fall.

Days drift on by, the questions always why
Thinking so big, sometimes feeling small,
Take the higher path, climb for that peak
When all you need to do is stand tall.

Your head's up in the clouds, keep your feet firm to the ground
Or it all comes crashing down again,
So you reached the top, you made it to the end
Make sure it's worth all the pain.

If the going gets too hard, from your pocket if you can
The photograph of the wife of your youth,
Remember your promise, at the top of the world
Would be left that picture of your Ruth...

So the days drift on by like that smoke before your eyes
They wondered why you tried at all,
You're reaching for your dreams like those mountains in the mist.

But travel to the stars, constellations play your tune
Such a long way to simply touch that moon
Always reaching out, run the faster race
Coming back to Earth to fall upon your face.

Yet seventy summers now have turned and they've fled
Lying so still and hug the ground,
Others of your kind now say their goodbyes
No picture of your Ruth was ever found.

But the days drift on by through the window of your eyes
And those distant summers circle through to Fall,
Looking to the sky, storm clouds rolling in
Reach for your dreams.. and stand tall.

All The Beautiful Skies started life in 2018 as the solo project of musician/singer, Suzie. New to the industry and coming into it at a later stage in life, Suzie began releasing self-produced material on SoundCloud.

These recordings caught the attention of songwriter/guitarist, Craig Gibson, who was then a member of Manchester indie band, Puppet Rebellion. Soon after, Suzie and Craig began collaborating, finding common ground in an atmospheric folk sound.

In early 2019, the pair released their haunting debut single ‘Apart Alone’, which picked up airplay on BBC Introducing and was met with positive reviews from a number of prominent indie bloggers.

With further experimentation throughout 2019, the band started moving towards a darker alternative/indie sound, again picked up straight away by BBC Introducing, the move is set to stay.
